Someone can be legitimately happy with their life and doing something they love and these people here think theyβre βruining their legacyβ out of some blind loyalty to one company lol I donβt get it How very cute  . Not that I have to justify myself, but... All I said - in my own opinion, was that I wouldn't have thought he would go there - the same way I wouldn't expect Austin, Rock, 'Taker, or Cena to ever show up there... Obviously, I thought wrong. Hopefully he can take his, always-been-overrated wife with him. For the record, I really couldn't care less what Edge does - I was just making a comment. I've never been an Edge guy... I wasn't even fussed when he made his miraculous return, because there was only one person I wanted to return - and it wasn't Edge. He'll likely be injured soon enough, anyway. |

Do I wanna see Danielson put on a clinic with a future face of the company?
Or Paul Heyman drop to his knees and scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! while Cena beats the apron because Carmelo Hayes just kicked out of a superplex.
Do I wanna see Edge's first match outside of WWE in almost 25 years?
Or Cody Rhodes tell us that three NXT talent are coming to RAW to be lost in the shuffle?
Just seems NIGHT AND DAY to me. Like not even going after the same type of wrestling fan.

Despite WWE being on an upslope and NXT 2.0 being on a run while iffy booking and waves of bad media coverage have AEW at a low point, they're still nervous about ratings. Have big names advertised in hopes for a draw, but the spin that "Well, we didn't REALLY play our strongest hand" is there if NXT somehow still can't pull out the night. The interesting point is how next week will factor into broadcast negotiations. Will we see a return to the Wed Night Wars? And you're correct, NXT is trying to draw in the casual crowd for Tuesday's effort. The Black & Gold NXT tried to compete head-to-head for the same smarky wrestling fan and ultimately fell on its sword. 2.0 is more of the traditional feeder sports entertainment brand rather than an alternative. |

I donβt know why anyone has an actual problem with any of this? They both gotta do what they gotta do. AEW is coming on NXTβs night they just canβt roll over and die and have a normal main event of like Melo, Trick, and Bate against Gallus. People will tune into AEW and skip the week, they gotta load it up. They are both in the middle of contract negotiations so they gotta look good. That being said if NXT then loads it up and they are on the upswing, AEW has got to load their show up too, canβt just have Edge vs Luchasaurus and an interview. Itβs a Win for all wrestling fans, I donβt understand the constant crying about company vs company. Every wrestler literally is telling the fans to kick rocks who keep doing this tribal crap.

What I don't understand is that instead of comparing the actual in ring product or the presentation, so many of the tribalism folk compare ... ratings. There is no other sport on the planet that does this. There is no other entertainment outlet that does this. If anything, a show will not want to lose its weekly audience and will put on a re-run if a special like the Superbowl is on, etc. They're not going to compete with it to prove some silly point.
Shows produce their content and the ratings they receive are what grants them renewal. And as seen with Impact, it doesn't need to be that large. These other shows don't try to make sure that the show slotted for week 4 this fall that's going up against another channel's show is going to be better lol. They simply produce and show their content. But over here in wrasslin', so many choose to look at ratings as proof that their show is better. It's insane. Some of the most watched shows on network are absolutely terrible. Ratings don't determine quality. Ratings should only matter to TV execs.
If we simply must compare AEW to WWE then ... who had the better in ring wrestling each week? Who had the better presentation? Who had the better stories? That's what we should look at if we simply must. And the thing is, we don't have to do it. |

I think the two cards side-by-side are an interesting look into which company thinks is a ratings draw.
As a wrestling fan myself, there is no comparison between John Cena managing a rookie versus a match like Danielson and Swerve.
I am interested to know how NXT got this A,B and C here with the question being, "how can we counterprogram someone imposing on our night of TV?"
The answer was a Cody announcement and an appearance from Paul Heyman, Asuka, and John Cena.
My subjective views on wrestling have a hard time saying that is reasonably counterprograming a card of Title Tuesday's magnitude.
I don't think my comment was as off base as you thought, and I think its worth the discussion.

One thing I am gonna complain about with AEW booking is their continued odd booking with the womenβs division. I think we both can agree that over the last year Willow and Skye Blue both organically got over as babyfaces without much follow through, and now they are going to turn both of them heel. While they struggle continuously to get women over. Itβs insane to me to do this right now.
