Damn, we didn't make a Full Gear thread? Anyways, Full Gear was hit or miss for me. Missed the pre-show because of traffic, but I'll check it out tomorrow The REALLY good: TBS Title 3-Way and Swerve/Hangman Texas Death Match The Decent: Sting/Darby/Copeland Vs. The Patriarchy, Jay White/MJF, Toni/Shida, 4-Way Tag Title Ladder Match The Meh: Golden Jets/YoungBucks, OC/Moxley This might have been MJF's worst title defense besides that boring ass Ethan Page match. The Adam Cole bait sucked. The stupid ambulance gimmick sucks most of the time WWE does it and it's not different here. This match would have been much more enjoyable if it was just a normal match without the injury angle in my opinion. These are pretty much my thoughts on the matches too. MotN isn't even close to me,its Hangman and Swerve. If not Cole,I hope Swerve is the one to take the title from Max. He's absolutely tearing it up lately and this match was no different and I usually not a fan of matches like this. Hate it for Stat and Shida but I get it these two ladies are the hottest females in the company(maybe the hottest male or female) and so excited for what's next for both. Wish all of the HoB had gold but Julia is a good start. Loved the ladder match but not a fan of the winners,especially if its just done so the Jets can take them soon. Exactly like Crane said,all the extra stuff pretty much killed all my enjoyment in the MJF/Switchblade match. Those two could've had a 5 star masterpiece but we got all this dumb extra stuff. Hope that's not the end of their feud and we still get that 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ match. Speaking of 5 stars,so glad Will was the big free agent. Sting/Edge/Darby v Christian and Co was fun but nothing special,I'm just glad Flair didn't take away from the match to much Mox/OC was disappointing and i wasn't expecting much to begin with. Like the trios titles, please get this title on someone different then these two. Im a big OC and Acclaimed fan but so many better options out there. I don't think I've seen more then a handful of people talk about this match and that's saying a lot from the bangers OC was having to get this title recognized in the first place |

Yeah I feel bad for TK. MJF and White could have put on a 4 star banger just wrestling. But he hears a section of fans saying there's not enough emotion and storyline in AEW so he goes and does that. Maybe instead of doing what he's seen before in WWE, he could go original if he simply must add drama.

Good deal for AEW to get Osprey. Only thing I don’t love is he confirmed he will still be living in the UK and will have a deal similar to PAC, so he won’t be an on tv every week, which bums me out, but it’s better for him obviously and his wife and her parents.

So I guess I’m in the minority. The Swerve match was gross. Never want to see someone bleed in someone’s mouth again. It’s 2023 guys this is blatant self mutilation and just stupid at this point. I don’t believe dude broke into dudes house. I don’t believe Hangman is gonna steal my weed. Whole thing is stupid.

The staple gun stuff was awful too. Can barely see it and the paper wouldn’t stick. I completely checked out at the blood in mouth spot. Big fast forward on that one… |

My GF and I had just started eating ice cream during the death match, and then Hangman starts drinking blood. Doesn’t bother me, but I immediately turned to her and she’s like “omg I’m gonna throw up.”

I loved the Swerve/Hangman match. The drinking blood part wasnt necessary but it showed how unhinged Hangman has been driven by Swerve and the match itself showed just how much Swerve breaking into his house and "confronting" his newborn pissed Hangman off, if it wasnt brutal than whats the point. I could see how it would gross people out but to me it wasnt a big deal.
I do love how people complain about how AEW doesnt have any stories, they adjust and start creating some pretty great stories that lead to bangers of matches, and people find ways to complain about that too. Not saying everyone does, and not saying AEW doesnt have a ways to go storywise to be much better, but it is nice to see a company hear complaints that fans have and adjust accordingly.
As for the event, I feel bad for Shida because she still hasnt had that great reign in front of fans yet. I probably wouldve had Mariah May accidentally cost Toni the title so Shida's reign could continue and Toni could have a different storyline for abit but it is what it is. Statlander at least have a pretty lengthy reign, and imo it's Julia's time to really shine.

Adam Copeland, Sting and Darby Allin VS Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne - Good opener. Edge looked awesome with the paint and gear. I like Nick Wayne more than I like Hook. Seems less robotic. I wasn't expecting Flair to be getting physical that quickly but there you go.... I don't mind Christian running away. Cage and Copeland's first in match encounter needs to be during a 1 on 1. Lucha's chockeslam on Darby on the apron looked and sounded hideous.
Tony Khan decided that Adam Cole (who is in a cast and had surgery 2 weeks ago) would defend MJF's World Title, which was in the possession of Jay White because he stole it and Tony Khan decided not to do anything about that. Bizarro world.
Mox Vs Cassidy - Good match. I thought Moxley was going to win so the finish got me.
Shida VS Storm - Meh. I liked the way Storm hid the shoe in her her tights and used it when Aubrey took the other one. The hotplate/frying pan/makeup plate/ thing sticking out of her ass right in Aubrey's face looked horrible. Although based on the way Aubrey's hair looked it is possible she was having trouble with her vision that night.
Tag Team Ladder Match - I really liked this. I liked how Big Bill and Brody King kept ending up facing off. King is massive and Bill made him look small. Cash is lucky he didn't fall during his ladder splash spot. He would have looked like a goof. Malakai yanking the ropes and launching the ladder into someone's face looked awesome. Ricky Starks strutting along the top rope will never get old.
Statlander VS Skye Blue VS Julia Hart - Meh.
Will Ospreay announcement - Good for AEW, but Tony needs help to figure out what to do with all these people. Ospreay will be doing mad work to sell Wembley for next year. It's got to be a guarantee that he's in the main event.
Swerve VS Page - A lot of people complaining about this one. Haha. I thought it was great. Hangman drinking Swerve's blood like a snow cone machine was nasty but oh well. I couldn't look away while he was doing it. Swerve grinning with the blood pouring down his face as he started staple gunning himself looked twisted. Nana dancing to get to get away from Page was hilarious. I'm glad Swerve won, but is there more between these 2 now? Does Page let Strickland come into his house and then kick his ass? And if there is more how in the feck do they top that?
Omega and Jericho VS The Bucks - I liked this. Nick, Matt and Kenny work great together and I thought Jericho slid right in too. I liked how Kenny was hesitant to take liberties with Nick or Matt but they had no problems doing it to him. Not sure what double team move The Bucks were going for but Jericho showed up out of nowhere and landed a Code Breaker that was timed perfectly. I like azzhole heel Bucks. Glad to see that's where they're going.
MJF VS Jay White - The idea that Adam Cole was going to be allowed to wrestle this match was beyond stupid. The stealing the ambulance and returning to the arena gimmick has been done enough but whatever. I thought MJF did a good job of selling the knee. It was obvious as all hell the announce table was going to fall apart if you go back and watch it again. There must have been some supports in the table all night that they removed for this match because it was wobbling all over the place when MJF was cleaning the monitors off. And that Diamond Cutter over the top rope to the floor was a HOLY SHET moment. I was not expecting that. Stupid story line leading up to this match, but these two delivered.
AND Adam Cole was VERY SUSPECT tonight. He had his ROH tag title belt and put up very little struggle when Jay White took it from him and used it on MJF. More of a hint was the Diamond Ring. Cole could have thrown or tossed it to Max but he put it down and made MJF come and get it. When MJF turned his back, Jay White attacked him and got the ring himself. The biggest hint of all though was that he was willing to wrestle the match. That was basically going to 100% cost MJF his gold. That was 3 attempts in 1 night.
Keep an eye on that going forward.
