I love that Swagger well Hager is now on AEW...but after last night's WWE Hell in a Cell PPV I can officially say that now I am becoming an AEW fan and honestly AEW's product I have been watching it well off and on but now I am definitely going to be watching it more from here on out but AEW's product definitely is much better than WWE right now I'm sure AEW will make its fair share of booking mistakes in time. But I like the focus on clean finishes. There were people complaining that there should have been a DQ in the 6 man match, but I like that the ref has the discretion to let the match go if they see fit. And from a storyline perspective that opens up doors for a wrestler to complain that a match they lost should have been stopped, etc. With AEW in particular, due to being an upstart, and frankly the fans wanting all the wrestlers to succeed, on top of a win-loss ratio complex, booking there has to be the hardest thing ever, as you will always wonder if you made the right call. It all rests on their decisions...

Why does TNA have its own subforum and AEW does not? AEW is on TNT. Impact Wrestling is no longer called TNA, and they're on freaking AXS TV.

They should bring in the Rock N Roll Express for a few matches.

I hope they hire Ivelisse and Mercedes Martinez to full time contracts. Their womens roster IMO is where they're weak in, and they could use a few more good names. Heck maybe hire Jazz and ODB as the veteran women to help out the up and coming women.

Just a couple of thoughts now that we're starting to see the show have its own identity...
-I'm really liking the complexity to the characters, ie MJF being heelish, but making the save for Cody. Bad people do good things and good people do bad things. It's a refreshing take on the typical face/heel dynamic. -They have an eye for talent. Jungle Boy and Private Party had zero buzz that I was aware of, and have killed it. -I'd like to see the women's division integrated more. Rehashing the same 4-5 wrestles only reinforces my view that the division is really their only major weak point right now. -Hikaru Shida looked like an absolute star. No idea why she hasn't been used since. -Riho looks like a child trying to play wrestler to me. I have zero interest in anime, video games, etc so maybe I'm just out of touch, but from the gear to the move set she does nothing for me. -Kylie Rae is booked for an upcoming Impact event. Would really like to know what the deal was there, where the went from looking like the face of the division to disappearing from sight. The whole thing is one of the odder wrestling happenings in recent memory.

Tony Kahn said Kylie asked to be released from her contract so idk what she wanted. Womans division is wierd its like the focus is on Britt and Bea but I dont really care for Britt, shes a little green still. Its wierd watching the regular women wrestlers with the joshis.

As much as I am big AEW fan, I can't help see how the industry is in a decline when it comes to TV viewership. I mean in 2010 ratings were high for RAW and TNA Impact's Monday night debut show did 2.2 million compared to AEW's Dynamite debut of 1.4 million viewers (of course doing better than NXT). Perhaps there is just too much wrestling on TV? AEW should consider looking to the masses to gain interest if they want to continue on. It's apples to oranges though. The media landscape has completely changed over the last decade. Tens of millions of people (estimates I've read are around 30M) people have cut the cord, and there are many (legal and illegal) ways to view content post-air. The vast majority of wrestling's target demographics (18-34 year olds, kids) consume media radically differently than they did in 2010. If anything I'd argue that the number of strong promotions, live event attendance, and prevalence in merch is more mainstream than it's been in a long while. And that's not just AEW and WWE. You have half a dozen wrestling shows with national tv broadcasts, and a number of others that seem to do pretty well on venues like Youtube. Plus indie promotions that have national and international audiences through streaming platforms. Is it the boom period of the Attitude Era or Rock n Wrestling days? No. But if you're looking at the entire wrestling ecosystem, I think you could argue this is as strong as it's been in a long, long time.

Watched wrestling during the 90s and contributed to the actual TV rating of the Attitude Era. Haven't paid for Cable Television in 15 years. Anything I watch, I watch illegally (... oooh) online. I pay for Internet. I pay for 3 children. The hell am I gonna pay for Cable TV, or Hulu, or any crap I don't have to for? -_- Pretty sure there's MILLIONS of Professional Wrestling fans in a similar situation with similar viewing habits. The industry people wonder where the 3-4 million Monday Night Wars fans went? Illegal streams because we're smart, internet savy, and older and still broke.

So 2 shows in, as a longtime WWE watcher ...
I like it.
First episode was alright, but they killed it this past weeks 2nd episode. I’m now invested in The Inner Circle , Jericho vs Cody, and Hangman Page. And that opening Tag Tournament match was incredible.

I'm also fully invested in the Inner Circle and I want every bit of their merch. It's crazy what a person like Jericho, who is magic on the mic, can do for the others in his team. Excited for him and Darby.

Dynamite is Nitro... without the names. They even ripped the logo off.

Busy doing other things so I won't be threadheading (apparently everyone else is too busy too lol) but just came in to say that was sloppy as hell, from experienced teams as well.

TSN (Canada ESPN) was airing their Kenny Omega documentary right before AEW tonight. Was cool to see, hopefully it drew in a few fans

Like I said after the first show it definitely feels like I am back watching Nitro. The whole presentation screams Nitro. Which I do like.
But I will say this...the first two weeks was the first exposure I have had to the Young Bucks and I am not impressed. I feel like they are a cheap impersonation of the Rockers who were a poor man’s Rock n’ Roll Express. They just seem to go from move to move, but without the story telling that both the Rockers and Rock n’ Roll Express conveyed in their matches. I feel the same about Omega. He’s got the talent in the ring, but I’m not really feeling him conveying a story in the ring with that talent. To me they need the announce team to help tell their story. Whereas with both the Rockers and R n’ R Express I can watch their matches with the tv muted and still see the story they are telling in the ring.
Moxy/Ambrose still can’t throw a believable punch to save his life. But that said as of right now at least he seems to be putting the effort into his matches and not phoning it in. Which I felt like he did his whole wwe career after the first Shield split up. Pac is still great and is probably my favorite wrestler in AEW. Jericho never disappoints and Cody has stepped up his game. And as far as wrestlers I have never seen until 3 weeks ago Hangman Page has impressed me the most.

Loved AEW again last night. I agree that it has a “Nitro” vibe to it, which I’m loving since it’s a different presentation than what the WWE has given us for years.
Omega/Mox/PAC has been great and I’m looking forward to see where this is going.
Jericho continues to reinvent himself for the better, and has even helped to wash the “Swagger” stink away from Hager.
The shows not perfect, but they keep giving me reasons to keep tuning back in.

Has there been any updates on the ratings from last night? 1.01M, down from 1.14M last week including TruTV. NXT dropped from 712k from 790k. Not a bad showing, but with the MLB playoff game cancelled I didn't expect this big of a drop. But honestly if they can tread water until the NBA season starts I expect some growth.
