I think we're hitting a tipping point. I don't think the issues are new, but they're becoming more glaring. They're doing decent character and story development, but it's almost entirely been left on Dark and BTE. Assuming your audience watch the B show is asking for trouble.
And the talent gap is becoming an issue. AEW has really impressed me in their ability to make guys look good. But making a star takes time. I know not everyone agrees, but I think they need to sign some WWE (or even Impact) talent. They need wrestlers with some name value and established credibility with non-hardcore audiences. But even more they need guys who know how to work to the camera and have experience doing tv promos. The depth just isn't there, and they keep having to go back to the well on the same upper card matchups two and three times in a matter of months.
Expanding the roster is great, and in a vacuum The Butcher & the Blade or Wardlow would be fine. But when that's the only guys you can add, guys who had little to no buzz on the indies let alone with mainstream audiences, because damn near every other worker is locked up to Impact, MLW, NJPW, or WWE, you're not in an advantageous position.
Guys like Jericho, Dustin, and JR have said their AEW deals have been the most lucrative of their careers. So hopefully they can bring in some notable talent over the next 6 months. There was bound to be some backslide as the novelty wore off. But I think this is the first real test - can they adapt or will some of the flaws start to become more apparent. They have some sharp folks on board, so I'm optimistic it'll be the former.

Literally only at his entrance but Brandon Cutler finally feels like someone instead of just being “That guy The Bucks gave a contract because he is their friend and a great guy that wouldn’t get one anywhere else”......good crap.

Honestly think The Butcher, Blade and Bunny debut would have gone over A LOT better had Blade just kept the mask on. Once the crowd realized they didn’t know who it was it killed the heat.
Had he kept the mask on leaving the fans guessing and still attacked the same way I think it would have gotten a lot of heat and accomplished much more. Maybe unmask at the end or not at all.

I also think their debut was the worst handled debut by announcers potentially ever. jr repeatedly asking who are these people, and Excalibur’s alluding to their past but not clarifying why or how he knows who they are...was a mess for sure.

The debate whether AEW is "in trouble" keeps being batted around, but I don't think that is true in any capacity. They have a great great product. Maybe put Dark and BTE on late night on the sister channels, or at least mention BTE's youtube on the show?

I think their Dark show is why they went out of their way to mention over and over last week (2 weeks ago? I can't remember) that if the title match ran long it would be on their youtube channel. I didn't think of that comment as "oh the match might run long" as much as I thought of it as "Hey btw we have a youtube channel". I might be remembering wrong, but I feel like they have mentioned BTE a few times on the show. They've mentioned Guevarra's channel enough haha. They are far from in trouble, I agree. Still well above their initial target numbers, and their roster is starting to really flesh out.

AEW is not in trouble, yet. They just need to focus on fixing the issues in their product. Stop treating the show as if everyone watching knows all the wrestlers and characters. Build the womens division more. Even Impacts got a better womens division right now. Work on production some more.

I thought wins and losses meant something in AEW. If so, then how does someone who has an overall 0-8 record get a shot at the world title?

I was up late watching it and thought I heard him say he was contractually obligated to defend the title but guess he just said have one more match.

I don't remember him saying it was an actual title match, but then when he was reading from his Lexicon, he was saying people who he wouldn't wrestle and he said "Cody, because he can't haha" which would suggest that it was a title match.

So was there for the show live in Champaign last night. Overall, the live experience was pretty good. I've been to a LOT of wrestling over the years, from WWF, to WWE, to WCW, to ECW, to ROH, to TOOOOOOOONS of Indys. The show itself, was fun. More production value then ROH, but less then what WCW or WWE/F have/had. Also, this was a show that needed a BUILDING not an ARENA. Legit, I've been to ROH in Chicago during 06 where they packed more people in to a small building (Frontier Fieldhouse) then AEW had in an Arena last night. That part, made me sad. If I had to estimate, maybe 40% full? Maybe!
Fun show to see live though as there were quite a few people I'd never seen live before.

I feel like i should have waited to buy tickets to AEW when they come to Cleveland. I heard theyre not selling too well. Then again, indies down here hardly sell out. At least AEW is at the venue TNA went when they came to Cleveland, and where WWE books their house shows here.

Just checked out a match with Butcher & Blade vs. Silver & Reynolds in Beyond wrestling. One, made me wonder why Silver & Reynolds disappeared off the roster page at AEW, they were on it before. (And judging by Silver's twitter about being backstage Wednesday, they'll likely be on next week's Dark). Enjoyed the match though, looking forward to seeing Butcher & Blade next week. Watching them also got the impression they would fit in very well at NWA too.

So who will AEW snap up from the WWE cull?
I’m hoping Brodie Lee, he could put on some amazing matches.

Ascension as part of the Dark Order? No. Good team that I liked, but I think Victor's past drug issues could pose a problem.

Hopefully they just get Brodie Lee out of those 4. If they take all of them, AEW will be labeled like TNA- the land of wwe rejects.
