LOL I had partially forgotten how the original NOD gave birth to all these sh*tbird factions...also? No love for the Truth Commission LOL Lol they were on the polls a while back. They lost out to the Triangle of Terror.

Matt Hardy V1Matt would adopt this gimmick in August 2002 and right off the bat would be obnoxious as hell with just the way he would introduce himself to the brand. He would be thrusted right away into the Taker/Brock feud that Fall with him getting a couple wins over Taker.Following this he would continue on in more the comedy role with him and Chris Nowinski taking a beating from the returning Scott Steiner at SSeries that year. The biggest time period of this run would come afterwards as he would start his quest at becoming Cruiserweight Champ and also would have a new flunky at his side in the form of Shannon Moore(#1 MFer). The whole build to this was could Matt get down to the required weight to challenge for the belt which he did in the end. He would face then champ Billy Kidman at No Way Out in which he would defeat the Allentown native to capture the gold. He would then enter a feud with Rey Mysterio which saw him defeat the high flyer at Mania XIX.He would reign as champ until that June where he would lose to Rey on Smackdown in San Diego. That Summer he would try his hands in the US and Tag Titles ranks but would come up short. He would also gain a new follower in the form of Crash Holly but it didnt last long at all as Crash would be released that Fall with him sadly passing away shorty after that. The sensei of Mattitude would jump over to Raw late in the year. It looked like he was going to join back up with Lita but in the end gave her the cold shoulder. He participated in the Rumble that January and would have a little run before being eliminated by Rene Dupree. He didnt do much of note for the next few months. The gimmick would come to an end that Spring after he saved Lita from Kane to start that infamous feud that would last until that August. Overall...I was never a Matt or Hardy Boyz fan in general but I will admit he nailed this gimmick. The Matt facts were the icing on the cake. What are your memories of Matt Hardy V1? Share them below!

Matt Hardy Version 1 was great. The Matt facts added to the gimmick nicely. He was one of their better heels at the time. His match vs Rey Mysterio at Wrestlemania 19 was criminally short.

Matt Hardy shouldve used Matt Facts to tell his side of the story when Lita cheated on him with Edge.

This was one of the major highlights of Smackdown for me during this time. He played this role perfectly and what I remember most about it was his run with Rey which was a damn fine opening Mania match, not to mention his Mfer, Shannon Moore It was this role that showed how much personality he had and that he could succeed without Jeff. I forgot to add that the original V1 shirt was one of my favorites and one of the last WWE shirts that I wore to death! I picked it up at a live event and it was a RAW live event so Matt Hardy was not even there, so that shows how popular he was at the time that they were selling his stuff at shows he was not on.
