Chasing these 'in stock' notifications from Target , always to no avail , makes me start to wonder if I'm just being trolled every time I get one of the damn notifications. This hobby is maddening sometimes. Lol This is exactly how I feel, seeing the notification for Aleister Black pop up, go to the up, and it’s not in stock. |

I don't find the whole "it means more if it's exclusive" thing as a compelling argument for "the chase" of finding any rareish figure being fun. Fun is a normal 6 figure set and 1 of them you can't find right away, but you find it after a few other stores.
A cool figure is a cool figure and not finding it and seeing 20 odd of them for inflated prices on Ebay doesn't make an exclusive figure fun, it just makes it an expensive chore.
It's ok for guys like Ryder to go "Well your stores abroad can order them in". I bet he wouldn't have that view if the UK got a load of exclusives and the USA didn't and he had to Ebay for them (Well, tbh he'd just pay it without question, lol).
Mattel could make a lot more money if they actually didn't gate rare figures to specific stores. Why does the NXT line need to be exclusive? If it's because they can't sell an extra line to most stores. They could have just stuck an NXT guy in the Elite line each wave and remove one of the lesser figures from the set.

Personally exclusives don’t bother nor does rereleasing them. I collect figures I like. I want them to be easy to find because I refuse to do the secondary market so if I didn’t preorder it and don’t find it locally then it won’t be in my collection. Now that said Sherri is the first figure that I have wanted that I do feel like I will miss out on, because I doubt I’ll find her. I still haven’t seen a Backlund on the pegs, but luckily I got him from WWE Shop back in Nov or Dec. but Sherri didn’t get shipped there by mistake so if I don’t find her locally of a friend doesn’t find me one I won’t have her in my collection.

I agree with what Ryder said on the pod this week about exclusives, but when you’ve been given all of these chase figures AND Harley Race by Mattel, that’s really a soapbox you shouldn’t be standing on.

this is such a crap stance on things. we're not talking about "chase" figures here, or some kind of short-packed, short-produced figure either. there are mass produced, in the thousands, supposed to be released at every Target in the country, with multiples per case. that people are getting to a store, buying them all and selling them for twice the price at least on the 'bay. i dont collect this line because i love NOT finding anything and then eventually at some point coming across it randomly. i collect because i want figures of the guys i watch and have watched on TV. |

Just bought another Black and another Dunne. Such beauts. Wished they had a McIntyre. I was gonna buy Dain as well but maybe next time. I'm not in a rush for him.

I can see having store exclusive lines but not store exclusive figures as part of a regular line, at least not with at least a way of getting it at an online site for near retail. Its easy to say hey the hunt is fun when you have been given all the store exclusive figures and the hard to find Race, but others don't have much of a shot. I am no where near a Target and only pass one during my driving route so I just have to be lucky and stumble across Dunne. With the NXT line I could atleast see if the numbers have changed at a Target and then at least I know it's worth it to make the hour or more drive to the store in hopes that they will be there. Which is what I did yesterday to get NXT 4, but with Dunne he is only one figure out of a multiple figure box and you can never know if he is coming in when the numbers go up.

Agree 100%, If it's a store exclusive, you should be able to walk in and find it, like Hasbro exclusives.

Local target on popfindr is showing 16 NXT figures, store computers are showing 0. It spiked from 8 yesterday to 16 overnight. No one knows what happened to them.

Find a manager, show pics of the figures you want. Have him scan the label on the pegs. Don't mention popfindr though. |
