Did my daily check of Target's website to see if Black and McIntyre happened to be available.
Noticed that the message changed that each reads "sold out." I was set up to receive notifications when they arrived, but got nothing.
Does that mean that there are some folks out there who got the notice and bought them out? Wonder if they will be showing up on Ebay soon?

I just clicked for Target to notify me when Aleister's figure is in stock, and it actually worked this time. Prolly won't get far but at least that's not erroring anymore.

The past couple days my bookmarked page changed all figs' availability from "out of stock" to "sold out". Even the Itami that's being held for NXT 5.

Looks like we're never getting that Itami, Hideo was granted his release according to Fightful, a very reliable source. Jesus, first Ambrose and now Itami.

This is precisely why I was mad when Hideo was bumped to the next series. Now we'll probably never get him. Ugh. Really wanted an elite KENTA in my collection. Yeah, safe to say it's never coming out. Itami seems to have left on good terms judging by his recent Tweets so who knows. Maybe Mattel will be allowed to release it if given the go ahead. He also has a 90 days no compete claus, I don't know if those count but who knows. |

I don't think we can fully place the blame for the delay on either Target or Mattel but I think they both deserve some of it.
Ultimately, we know it's Target who is holding up the release of these, but if you consider the reasons why then part of the blame has to fall on Mattel, especially given how many times their store exclusives have flunked.
If Target is holding off on these because they're waiting to move more of their old stock, then there's a problem there with those figures. Either they ordered way too many of them or the character choices aren't up to par and they aren't moving quick enough. I think it's a mix of both.
Given that NXT series 2 has been readily available on Target's website for a long time, I really think Mattel sold Target way too many of these figures. Now I know some of you are ready to reply to me "DO YOU EXPECT MATTEL TO TURN DOWN $$$$$??" No, no I don't. But how many times are they going to let stores over order their product when it clearly causes a delay in the following waves? Remember the wait for HOF 4? It took like a year and a half and it seems to be because Mattel shipped way too many of series 2 and doomed the entire line after that.
The shower Rusev is also lingering way too long in high numbers. I still cannot believe they made this figure. Given that NXT has some of the most highly requested characters/attires in figure form, I seriously couldn't believe it when Bill showed off that Rusev and openly admitted it was a figure that nobody had ever asked for. Now look...he's still readily available in (probably) every single Target store and is possibly part of the reason there's a hold up on all the figures that people actually do want. Sometimes surprises can be awesome and you see something you didn't even know you wanted, but wouldn't it be a better business decision to just give the customers what they want? Even though it's just one figure out of many, that Rusev really seems like a major blunder for the line.
Now if the only Hideo elite is going to end up canned because of this holdup, that's a damn shame.

I still cannot believe they made this figure. I seriously couldn't believe it when Bill showed off that Rusev and openly admitted it was a figure that nobody had ever asked for.That's the biggest problem, that whole set was a total failure and now it's ruined the future of the NXT line. The only figure people really wanted from that set was Ember Moon. Bobby Roode had his Entrance Greats to compete with so you could argue that he would only sell for those who missed out on his EG and for that NXT Title. Who ever asked for an NXT Roman Reigns? Even though it's Roman, that figure still was never going to fly off the shelves. Kids will see it and ask "Why is Roman Reigns wearing that?" then opt for a more accurate Basic Reigns, to which a parent wouldn't complain since it's saving them money. And parents buying for their kids wouldn't recognise him, instead again, they'd go for a random Basic Reigns that looks like him currently. And like you mentioned, nobody ever asked for NXT Rusev... So why make it? At that time he was hardly over. Like Reigns, kids will see it and ask why he looks like that, because they're fans of "Rusev Day", not board breaking Alexander Rusev. The only people who were buying those Rusev's & Roman's were the odd 3 or 5 hardcore NXT collectors. They really got to stop with these Flashback NXT figures, the majority of them won't sell. The only ones i see selling in the future are - Flashback Corey Graves, because people have been asking for that for years - Titus O'Neil in NXT 5, simply for the fact that it's his first and probably only ever Elite, that'll be its selling point. |

I don't understand why the NXT figures haven't been put on clearance yet, considering that I saw EG Bobby Roode for $9.50 and Ron Simmons and Champa from HOC were on clearance as well.
