Is there an easy way to separate the backing plate from the base on the diorama stands without damaging either piece once they are connected? Thanks in advance.

They are pain in the ass to do but it can be done. You have to take a small screwdriver and wedge it by one of the pegs and quickly pry/pop it up. Then do it to the other side. There will be some stress marks on it but they're hidden if you ever use them together again

Did you heat it in boiling water? Yes I have tried that. Didn't work unfortunately. I never used mine because they were such a pain in the ass.
