Firstly, I’ve got my eye on a few loose (out of bag) Hasbro mail-away Hogans. I’ve been monitoring prices and I’ve looked at the price that others have sold at on eBay.
So many loose out of bag Hogan’s are list for around £700 in the UK, which is about $900. I’m willing to pay around £450 (approx $580). Do you think I’m willing to pay a reasonable price?
Like I said, most of the ‘buy it now’ prices aren’t moving, but the sellers aren’t accepting anything lower.
Thanks all.

I could have picked one up about 4 years ago for £100. But I didn't, to expensive I thought. Well, here I am 4 years later. No figure. Prices 4 times that. I'm angry and bitter. Can't wait for the great Hasbro price crash, lol.

You won’t get one for that money at the moment. If I were you I’d either wait and hope for prices falling again or skip the figure. Most lose ones have color distortion making the figure not worth the money. Honestly it’s frustrating. You will habe more satisfaction by buying a custom one from that 2up guy.

Jeez, I bought a mint/bagged one for £125 at the tail end of 2017 what the heck happened to the prices? Crazy isn't it. I had nearly everything except the green cards since I was a kid, so I've been spared most of the price increaes. I started collecting again maybe 5-6 years ago now with the intent on finishing my beloved childhood collection. But even in that time, prices have on average more than doubled. The only way I've been able to justify some of the green card prices I've paid, is that I bought a couple of large collections for cheap, and sold them on for a lot of profit over time - with that profit going right back into the more expensive figures. Im sure the prices will crash at some point, I just hope I'm alive to see it and finally complete the collection. I should have just bought everything a few years ago now, but at the time...£100 for mailaway Hogan, £75 for 123 Kid just seemed excessive. Bite your hand off now for those prices.

Hard to really say what will happen though, I really don't see prices breaking any time soon. Maybe certain figs will fluctuate up and down though. I had thought prices came down on a lot of HTF MOCs in the past 6 months though, mainly because of the flood of certain figs on ebay. While others like MA Hogan skyrocket. Glad I got my current Hogan 2 years or so back before he really went up. Would love to have a 2nd one, but not at these prices.

Anyone else remember the days (late 90s) when they could be had for barely $50? I don't even think Bret and Taker were tough to find under $100...

But booms like we are seeing now are usually brought about my people in their 30's, who now have a bit of disposable income and want to recapture some of the youth through purchasing their old childhoood toys. Usually continues into the 40's for most, but dies down after that. So then, we should see a fall in price You can see it with retro video game collecting, how prices of various system have risen, and gone down as they life milestones are hit for people. Like NES was rocketing a few years back, now it's calmed down - right now its SNES...and PS1 and N64 is just starting to boom as well. Actually, thinking about it....you can predict it quite well.

I bought my mail away Hulk in July 2017 for $220 from some guy in China or Japan. Forgot which country. Dropping that kind of money hurt at the time, but I'm happy I did looking back. The fellow that sold it to me probably has some regret and wishes he held on to it another year at least.

Makes you wonder if you should sell your Hogan while it's worth this much and try to track one down in a few years when they're cheaper again!

They might be listed at £700 but they aren't actually selling at that price. The last legit sale I can see went for £265 on eBay? Sellers are just trying to inflate the prices while they think interest is peaked in the line, it's when they actually start selling for that price that you need to worry as a buyer (or throw a party as a seller!). I guess the best advice is just don't panic, prices will come down when sellers realise that £700 is more than people are willing to pay, and get bored of keep re-listing the same item on eBay. Heck, if you really want it that badly you can have mine for £699 and I will make you a cup of tea when you come to pick it up haha

Once someone bites and buys one? Or more than one person buying at that price to set the trend?

Anything is only worth the price that someone is willing to pay for it. If everyone refused to buy iPhones for the next two years their prices would drop dramatically too...
I mean, technically a figure is just a bit of plastic and metal. It's individual components hold no value/'worth' really. So it's 'worth' comes from how badly you want it and how much money you would personally be willing to pay for it. What an item is 'worth' is very much down to the individual.
I could certainly never justify spending £700 on a figure, because in my mind that money would be better spent on a family holiday or something else which I would deem more 'worth'while... hehe
