this is how rumours build in wrestling and develop momentum. I see nothing wrong with people being excited for aew, and of course there will be the few who are automatically super fans. this happens for anything exciting and should be fully expected.
as for orton in aew, I don’t think there is a thing randy orton could do in a wrestling ring that would really interest me at this point. maybe if his character made some massive developments, but the viper is just a stagnant snake otherwise.

I'm very interested to see AEW take shape. But these "wrestler X will talk to AEW" rumors are basically pointless.
Any wrestler not named McMahon is probably willing to talk with AEW, if only to increase their leverage in contract negotiations. I'm sure they'll likely sign some WWE talent, but I'd much rather see them sign a couple names you can build around and develop their own stars than just poaching older WWE vets ala WCW and TNA.

I agree with those tired of hearing about AEW already. I mentioned the other day in either the Ambrose or Itami thread about people acting like Ambrose & Itami were both victories for AEW. And that the mass exodus has begun.
It just gets annoying when I'm watching a RAW podcast on YouTube and they keep talking about how great so and so would be in AEW. How do we know this? They haven't even had a single show, but so many are already talking about how it's vastly superior to WWE. And how everyone will be happier & better off there. How about we wait and see what they have to offer before we talk about 90% of WWE trying to jump ship? As for Orton, I understand AEW wanting to get some big names to sign, but IMO they'd be better off focusing on new fresh faces. Not WWE hand-me-downs. I think offering a 48 year old Jericho a 3 year deal was incredibly stupid. And bringing in Orton would only benefit them briefly. After the shock wears off, it'd be just meh.

No one is saying that AEW is vastly superior to WWE. People are excited about the *potential* of an AEW because really, really talented wrestlers might be used correctly. There's so many Indie wrestlers who have had good to great runs in NXT and have completely floundered on the main roster. Now, there's an alternative for those guys

Can we see a actual AEW event before we go making this the greatest thing ever? "All In" doesn't count. So many rumors about tv deals, etc. I'm sure a lot of "talent" are gonna wait and see how the production value is going to be and whatnot before changing companies. Just because it's "Jesus Cody' doesn't mean this is going to be any good.
Like it was said, Jericho is 48 and the WWE wants to push newer talent "kinda". They don't want or need him anymore. Jericho is at Foley levels of "LOOK AT HOW GREAT I AM!" so of course he still wants the spotlight and he'll only get it in AEW.
Let Orton go too. He's stale as hell. But he won't because he won't be as protected in AEW as he is in WWE.

When AEW was first announced I was genuinely interested and was looking forward to giving it a try. Now I’m already at the point where I’m desperately hoping they fall flat on their face and fail. They’ve barely gotten off the ground and I’m already annoyed by them. They’re being talked about like the greatest company that’s ever existed and they haven’t even put on one show yet. How can they possibly live up to all the hype? My interest in checking them out has steadily gone downhill since they were made official.

Since there are several people that dislike the AEW talk, maybe for the sake of all, why don't we push it all over to the other thread where those of us that like to discuss all the cool possibilities and such can do it with a positive surrounding. The true criticism is good, but the negativity is kind of a bummer. I'm pretty neutral on AEW right now, but I have to admit the people ragging on it because of the super fans seem just as obnoxious as said overzealous fans.

I think getting Orton would be a mistake. While I can respect his very long career. I have found him beyond boring for the last decade. Plus no one ever comes out of a feud with Randy Orton with any kind of momentum or looking better for being in a feud with him.

Signing Orton would get name value yes, but that also means signing a slow, 'lazy' worker who doesn't fit the 'indy' style and it would mean he takes the spot of someone else. People saying "He should go to AEW" are going to be the same people complaining that his matches are boring and he's taking someone else's spotlight.
The thing i find funny is all these people say "So and so should go to AEW because they aren't used right in WWE", "Not on TV? AEW confirmed", "Contract expiring? AEW 100%" etc... Yet ignore the fact that if AEW signs every single person on the market, people still won't be used right, people will still be left off TV & people will still not be happy with their position.
It's like they want AEW to turn into WWE, which will inevitably get the WWE effect and lead people to complaining about AEW and wanting their talent to jump over to another promotion...

Count me as another one who is tired of seeing the letters 'AEW'. People really think a company that's the brainchild of Cody Rhodes and those two irritants, the Young ing Bucks, will put a dent in the WWE juggernaut?

This would normally sound ridiculous but they've demoted Orton so far down the card that I can believe it. He looked bored at the Royal Rumble before he even entered the ring. He looks like they've just sucked the passion out of him.

He looks like they've just sucked the passion out of him. When you've basically played the exact same character for over 10 years, i'd be bored too. If you think about it, he hasn't changed at all since about 2009. But there's not much you can really change about him... I think he'd be a lot more into it these days if they let him go back and visit his Legend Killer gimmick, go around punting people in the end, hitting DDT's on concrete and 'ending' careers. I'd have him do that as well as the stuff he was doing with Jeff last year, the cringe worthy ways of torturing his opponent.

I think from now until the AEW kick-off event we're gonna hear that AEW are making offers to everyone-right down to The New Day's pancake blender lol.

I'm sure they'll likely sign some WWE talent, but I'd much rather see them sign a couple names you can build around and develop their own stars than just poaching older WWE vets ala WCW and TNA. I'm sure AEW is aware of that and won't make the same mistakes that TNA did in building around aging and older stars from other companies. However, at the same time you still need at least a core of established stars to bring buzz and the casual fan base and that's where guys like Jericho and Orton would come into play. Furthermore, if you can somehow bring a guy like Orton in, it wouldn't be a bad idea in having him be your first World champion only to put over a lesser name to give that lesser name instant credibility. It seems like the general sentiment on this board of Orton is that he's boring at this stage of his career, but considering the guy has been around for 17 years, I think he's done a fantastic job in re-inventing himself as his current heel character. Furthermore, he's still only 38 years old, so he's not "old," he has just been around for so long that he feels older than he actually is. If he can get a similar type of money deal at AEW, I would jump if I was Orton. He would instantly be fresher and he would have a new lease on his wrestling career. It should also give him some motivation considering he'd be the face at first -- or one of the faces -- of a brand-new company looking to make their mark on the wrestling landscape. If he re-signs in WWE, he's just treading water with no real objective other than to keep collecting those checks.
