This would normally sound ridiculous but they've demoted Orton so far down the card that I can believe it. He looked bored at the Royal Rumble before he even entered the ring. He looks like they've just sucked the passion out of him. When you've basically played the exact same character for over 10 years, i'd be bored too. If you think about it, he hasn't changed at all since about 2009. But there's not much you can really change about him... I think he'd be a lot more into it these days if they let him go back and visit his Legend Killer gimmick, go around punting people in the end, hitting DDT's on concrete and 'ending' careers. I'd have him do that as well as the stuff he was doing with Jeff last year, the cringe worthy ways of torturing his opponent. No, he's definitely changed several times since '09. In 09, he was very much the schizophrenic and batcrap crazy heel that could snap at any moment due to his mental disorder. Then they tweaked it slightly and made him a tweener/babyface in 2010 all the way up until 2013 when he became the cocky, spoiled authority figure heel. Then they gave him the boring face gimmick in 2015 upon his return when he seeked revenge on Seth Rollins until completely changing up the gimmick and going to a cold heel-type gimmick where he goes after every major babyface in 2018. It just feels as if he's doing the same thing -- although he has not -- because he's done it all and been around for so long. Of all the guys that entered in 02, Batista stopped being full time in 2010, Cena hasn't been full time in at least 2-3 years (and will never be again) and Lesnar was only a full-time wrestler from 02 until 04. Orton is the only guy that has been a full-time guy for 17 years consecutive. If he wants to remain fresh, he'll go to AEW. The possibilities are endless there.

When AEW was first announced I was genuinely interested and was looking forward to giving it a try. Now I’m already at the point where I’m desperately hoping they fall flat on their face and fail. They’ve barely gotten off the ground and I’m already annoyed by them. They’re being talked about like the greatest company that’s ever existed and they haven’t even put on one show yet. How can they possibly live up to all the hype? My interest in checking them out has steadily gone downhill since they were made official. This is such a bizarre take on so many levels. So the company possibly - keyword - reaching out to top tier talent....annoys you? How many people do they have signed...ten? Do they have an official deal for TV? Look I’m excited and I want to see them succeed but some of their marks are what makes it annoying. How do we know it’s going to be so much better than what we have now? How do we know it’s going to be better than WWE? New Japan I have a feeling will continue to be where it’s at if you truly want compelling wrestling and I’m hoping AEW lights a fire under WWE’s ass creatively. On another note. At least the last two weeks it’s SEEMED like WWE is trying to make SOMETHING work by throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks.

I agree with those tired of hearing about AEW already. I mentioned the other day in either the Ambrose or Itami thread about people acting like Ambrose & Itami were both victories for AEW. And that the mass exodus has begun.
It just gets annoying when I'm watching a RAW podcast on YouTube and they keep talking about how great so and so would be in AEW. How do we know this? They haven't even had a single show, but so many are already talking about how it's vastly superior to WWE. And how everyone will be happier & better off there. How about we wait and see what they have to offer before we talk about 90% of WWE trying to jump ship? I don’t know what you’re talking about! It’s not like Orton and Jericho have ever worked a program with each other! Oh? They have? Carry on. As for Orton, I understand AEW wanting to get some big names to sign, but IMO they'd be better off focusing on new fresh faces. Not WWE hand-me-downs. I think offering a 48 year old Jericho a 3 year deal was incredibly stupid. And bringing in Orton would only benefit them briefly. After the shock wears off, it'd be just meh.

It'd be pretty funny if AEW had Randy Orton vs Chris Jericho as the main feud.

Orton has been a heel and face so many times, it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m not sure what AEW is going for... right now they make a lot of t-shirts and even more claims. Haven’t seen one thing yet that suggests they can sustain a weekly audience and really make some money.
If they are going to try and compete with WWE they need to think about like this. (IMO) The reason WCW worked was Hogan’s her turn and the formation of the NWO. He had been the biggest star for years and years. And Never a heel And Yellow and Red... his fans as kids, turned into adults and enjoyed watching him as the bad guy.
This will piss some people off (and I’m not trying to, it’s just my thoughts) There is one person who can pull that type of movement and shift away from WWE and it’s Cena. You can hate all you want, but if they (AEW) are wanting to be main stream, heel Cena is the ticket. The kids that grew up cheering for him, are getting old enough to boo him now.
Everyone else is either too old or not well enough known to make the “impact” that is needed to really compete with the E anytime soon. (Unless they sign the Rock)
Just my thoughts...

I know what you're saying, but a lot has changed in the last 20+ years. Vince can't even keep Cena around, what makes you think AEW would? If WWE really wanted to, they could turn him heel and reap the rewards of it.

Heel Orton will always be cold and calculating. From attacking Hogan in the parking lot in front of his daughter in the legend killer days to the bit with Triple H (didnt he hand cuff him and hurt Steph?) The decimation of Cody Rhodes, Right up to the screw driver Jeff hardy spot I'd be interested to see what he would so if he was given free reign of his character

A lot of what goes on in the WWE is in fact crap. If a few rumors about so and so leaving for a company that as of now has no track record, no TV show, and roster thinner than Olive Oil is enough to get the WWE to stop producing crap, then this is all a good thing. And then I see Shane McMahon with a championship belt slung over his shoulder, Nia Jax with a microphone, the Lucha House Party in any form, and Big E pulling pancakes out of his singlet and I doubt any real change is coming.

The hype these goofy websites will hurt them in the long run, publicity wise. I wish them the best, but i agree with you these reports are annoying. The Undertaker speculation was the one that tops it. I wouldnt be surprised to hear the wrestlers or WWE are encouraging these reports.

Realistically, they only have Jericho and Cody to a point

Is every Jericho feud going to be a result of him attacking a guy just because? His new gimmick is a crazy, edgy, trying to be in with the new trends old man so yeah. Ever since Jericho had Gallows and Anderson on his podcast and tried to make “Talk’n Shop” his own thing, even adopting the whole “Good Brother” vocabulary and going over to NJPW because it was the most popular thing at the time I noticed he was a leech. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the guy, but lately he just rips off or puts his own crappy spin on whatever’s relevant at the time.

Jericho killed the Talk'n Shop bits in making it a routine feature on his show. I think by the time the fourth or fifth one rolled around, it just became unlistenable, primarily on account of him. It's troublesome, to me, because Jericho is inarguably one of the all-time greats of my time, but I haven't been able to get behind him, in any sense, for what feels like ages now. There's just something there that I don't want to watch anymore. I think the last time I felt excited by what he was involved in was when he first popped up in the segment calling out Omega. The match was a total banger, but at this point, he just seems to have overstayed his welcome. I know I may be alone in this, but there's something about a guy older than even Hogan was between '96 and '99, doing what Jericho is doing, that just sucks some of the appeal of what should otherwise be a very exciting thing happening.

Randy Orton isn't going anywhere. Am I the only one who gets sick and tired of all this crap on social media and YouTube on people who AEW should sign from WWE? AEW needs to sign people who didn't work for WWE (I know they have Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, and Neville who came from WWE).

Him winning another World Title even under this new gimmick really doesn't do anything for him. He's won it god knows how many times, main evented Wrestlemania, feuded with all of the big stars except AJ Styles, won the Royal Rumble and really hasn't missed much time for 17 consecutive years. Hopefully he feuds with Styles, leaves while he's still "fresh" in WWE and begins a whole new chapter of his career in AEW. I envision AEW will kind of be like TNA in regard to how light the schedule was, which would be perfect for an older veteran like Orton.
