SD and NXT are the two most worth your time currently. Raw has some good stuff that you might like but fair warning the three hour runtime wears on you after a while at least in my opinion. If you’re lookign for a quickie catch up on some of the new faces, WWEs YouTube has highlights from their shows and some recent full matches.

I started watching again around 2015 after like a 15 year break. NXT is what kept me interested in WWE, the womens' revolution kept me wanting more. I wouldnt have stuck with it if all I saw were SD/RAW because most of the wrestlers had douchey gimmicks lol.
Then naturally I started looking at other promotions like NJPW, ROH, etc. So much awesome stuff out there beyond WWE.

Don't have cable so maybe I'll be able to find some other options. ...Stupid question, what is the difference between Raw and Smackdown now?? How different did they become?

WWE Network is all you need, $10 a month, first month free. Archive with all PPVs ever, all shows ever, etc.
If you want the most recent RAW/SD you have to watch it live on cable or just torrent it (torrents usually get uploaded the next day, WWE takes forever to post recent RAW/SD)

To simplify it, SD is more consistent and takes a little more chances with their booking

If you don't mind watching some non-WWE content, Lucha Underground is amazing something really different and I'm hearing great things about Impact Wrestling.

NXT is ungodly good, and this is coming from an 80s-90s fan that is more than a little jaded.

I think the only difference between RAW & SD is the third hour. If RAW didn't have that, the shows would be damn near identical. That within itself is a problem, but that's for another thread.

Get the Network and go ing nuts. If you're looking for shows that feature guys from your childhood, watch a bunch of WrestleManias from the last several years, watch Raw 25, Raw 1000, SmackDown 1000. I'm not a big NXT guy, I'm a sucker for the people I grew up watching so I grab onto that as much as I can.

Raw is three hours and has a red stage. SmackDown is two hours and has a blue stage. They both have different rosters, but with some crossover at the moment - like Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are technically on the SmackDown roster, but they're feuding with Ronda Rousey on Raw... The new NXT guys that have been on recently are appearing on both brands... And Sasha Banks and Bayley are Raw wrestlers, but they just became women's tag team champs and they'll defend those on all brands.

As the title says, I thought I'd try and get back into wrestling. As a kid I was fortunate enough to grow up with the attitude and ruthless aggression eras. Now, I know things will never really be the same as they once were for so many reasons, and I'm not asking for those reasons, or how bad wrestling is now because that's a whole other topic. Really, just looking for some help on where to start up again, good story lines to look out for, if structure or PPVs have changed etc. so I can enjoy some good ole wrasslin'. Thanks for your help! It's a great time to be a fan because there are so many options available thanks to all the advancements in online streaming. My big advice would be to check out a bunch of different companies and find what you like best. These days, I watch more New Japan and All Japan than anything else -- you can subscribe to each online for the cost of Netflix (like $8-9 a month). I don't love the current WWE product but the WWE Network (also like $10 a month) remains a steal for all the classic content, pay per views and NXT. There's really a different style for whatever is your taste. AAA in Mexico is the closest thing available these days to the Attitude Era, it's wacky and can be really fun. Heel refs, death matches, blood, etc. It's out there. And they post all of their television episodes (called AAA Worldwide) for free on YouTube! I've been watching for many, many years and the New Japan main events from the last couple of years have absolutely been the best matches I've ever seen. If you like women's wrestling, Stardom has a streaming service for like $6 a month. So yeah, I'd say check a bunch of different things out and don't feel like you need to stick with WWE just because it's WWE. Because if that were the case I'd be done with wrestling completely right now. Instead, I love it more than ever.
