I remember when Jakks started putting those rubber pieces in the arm joint the last few years before they lost the WWE license to save money. It was the worst, because those rubber squares would come loose if you rotated an arm too much and then it would pop out and start rattling around the torso and the arm was basically broken at that point. The only way to fix it was to crack open the torso and put it back in place. Hopefully, this doesn't happen with Mattel. They put them in the Deluxe Aggression ab crunch too. My DA6 Edge has had a floppy stomach for 12 years because it started to fall out and I pulled it out not knowing what it was I never liked or collected DA back in the day, so I didn't know they did that with them, too. It was the worst, I'm with you on that. I used to customize back in the day, but in the later years of Jakks the torsos were seeled so tightly that it was a 50/50 shot you were going to be able to crack them cleanly. So, once the black squares started coming loose on a lot of my figures, I just gave up collecting. Some of them, by the way, were already loose and rattling the second I took them out of the box without even touching them yet.

DA13 was the worst set they ever did

Something so small with a big effect. Unfortunately though, you just know they aren't going to bother fixing it. It sucks too because a lot of the highly anticipated figures have this torso - Undisputed Era (Already known to have the issue), Aleister Black, Cedric Alexander, Ricochet (They'll probably give him this torso), the new Daniel Bryan (Pun intended). All will likely have the arm issue. Don’t worry, if Velveteen Dream is any indication then Ricochet will have the Bluetista torso. But they’ll put it on the tiny Daniel Bryan legs to balance it out.

It would be sweet if Big Boss Bill would tweet the pictures they use to decide who gets what body parts, and maybe a line or two to clarify questionable choices (like maybe one torso is more suitable for printing than another).
I still say Dream should have gotten the Wade Barret torso so he looks lean, but who knows if that would throw off the height.

I never got why they make both shoulders differently, is that so they dont get confused in the assembly process? More than likely. Ummm does the left arm go on the left or right...doh?

They have to meet specific safety guidelines for QC. This piece is probably a part off that process So the arm not working properly is intentional? Aye ok!

I wish there were a docu-series for toy fans out there that covered these topics. For example, why does Mattel do it this way while Hasbro uses identical pegs with square ratcheting sleeves? Both solutions work when assembled properly, would be neat to pick the brain of the engineers and see what other concepts were abandoned in favor of these.

Figures would perform better if they were assembled with magic...

Could mold degradation also be to blame?

I get the impression it has more to do with the rubbery piece not being seated correctly by the factory worker or machine than the mold producing wonky pieces, but of course we cant be sure until Mattel looks into it.

I've had many many issues with joints not moving as they should, mostly the thigh, shoulder (what you describe here) and wrist joints. They have been bad at times where I had to buy 2 of the same figure in order to be satisfied with the joints...
please fix this mattel, I am always nervous opening up new figures because of this

I have a lot of figures I need to open that are notorious for the left shoulder problem and makes me a bit nervous to open them.
