So last night a buddy of mine was arguing with me that the 2002 return of triple h was the loudest reaction of all time.
Obviously that isn't true. I've since proved him wrong by showing him the Austin pop the night Foley won the title, and the Goldbergs pop the night he won the title.
My question to all of you is what other reactions are much louder than triple h returning in 02. We watched it and it's loud and all but it's nothing compared to either of the other two I mentioned.

If you're counting the loudest and longest sustained reaction from a crowd, then the Raw after WM where Roman beat Taker. Ten solid minutes of a crowd absolutely refusing to let Roman utter a single syllable.
Also, the Seattle crowd reacting to Elias and Owens after they trash talked the city's lack of a basketball team.
They're not your traditional here comes the hero to save the day face pop but they should still count for something.
For more traditional face pops, the Dudleys surprise return to Raw in 2015 and Ziggler cashing in on Del Rio were pretty loud. Hard to tell where they measure on the decibel scale but I'll throw them out there for consideration.

Pop wise, Triple H is right up there with the two you mentioned. I havent seen any thing mentioned that I would say is louder or close to it. For extended pop the Hart Foundation intro during Canadian Stampede was pretty damn loud.

The Triple H and Steve Austin pops mentioned were two of the loudest I remember hearing, with Austin probably getting the loudest of anyone I can remember. Though, Hulk Hogan use to get some really good pops, I want to say that one of the rumbles (90 or 91) he received a pretty loud pop when he came through the curtain. He also got a very good/loud reaction when he returned to the WWF in 2002, I remember the crowd chanting/cheering for him pretty loudly and for a good minute or so even when he was the "bad guy".

For me theres a few that come to mind
Triple H's return in 2002 Austin on the Raw where he temporarily turned face against the Alliance before Invasion Undertaker at Judgment Day 2000 Rock returning in 2011 Ziggler cashing in MITB in 2013 CM Punk at MITB 2011
But the night where Austin cost Rock the title against Foley in '99 has to be the biggest pop Ive ever seen.

A tie between Triple H return at MSG in 2002 and the Hardys return at WM 33.
I was there for each, and the pops sounded equally loud. Arguably, Trips' may have been louder only because MSG has a roof.

My 2 standard answers to this are Sick Nick Mondo's return to CZW to help Rory, and Super Dragon's return a couple years ago in PWG. If it has to be WWE though, has to be Austin related, though the crowd chant against Edge for Matt Hardy at ECW ONS was loud.

Also makes me want to watch the RVD/Cena match, the amount of hate poor Cena got was comical

Right rom the start when the fans kept throwing his shirt back into the ring, one guy stopping to wipe his ass with it first, to the fans chanting "You can't wrestle", then Cena does several actual wrestling moves so the fans chanted something like "You still suck" and then the end with Edge interfering and the fans chant "Thank you Edge". One of my all time favorite matches.

Arguably, Trips' may have been louder only because MSG has a roof. That triple h pop just doesn't translate on tv. It's honestly kind of pitiful compared to several others mentioned here. Though it is the loudest reaction he ever got lol.

I'm also laughing because if you dig into the archives for really old matches, you see the crowds going out of their minds when someone does something as basic as a back body drop. And if they do something astounding like...a dropkick? Woooooo! The roof explodes into space! I'll bet the biggest reaction of all time is buried somewhere back then.
