Its about time.....ROD SMITH! Chris Willliams is an O-Linemen drafted 16th overall. about time? up until last year he was one of the most productive receivers of the last 10 years. Rod was a GREAT receiver. Potential Hall of Famer.

I thought long and hard about this, and honestly, I don't feel that bad for him. He got the opportunity to play football because he was in the ARMY, and it was his choice to join the ARMY in the first place. As a member of the ARMY, it's his duty to serve the country. He knew that when he signed up.

But as soon as he got picked, they reversed the policy. I wonder if Viti can still play for the Bills? I am assuming no? Haven't heard anything.

i think both the trades for Taylor and Shockey were a bit much... mostly the second round picks the teams gave up.

Rod was a GREAT receiver. Potential Hall of Famer. LoL. Not a chance. i think both the trades for Taylor and Shockey were a bit much... mostly the second round picks the teams gave up. The thing is, there's no way that the Saints are going to draft a TE of Shockey's quality for a 2nd round pick or less.

maybe so... but i think the Saints had more pressing needs that could have been filled with that second round pick.

maybe so... but i think the Saints had more pressing needs that could have been filled with that second round pick. The Saints have been looking for a quality TE forever, though. I feel like Jeremy Shockey is a perfect fit there. He's a very good receiver, he's got good speed and requires attention from the opposing team's safeties, and he's absolutely one of the best blocking TE's in the league. If Shockey helps spread the defenses out, it will help Reggie Bush AND Drew Brees a lot.

maybe so, but you could have drafted a TE with either of those picks and while he may not have been the TE Shockey is, teams have proven before that a TE of Shockey's caliber isn't needed necessarily to win championships, much less win in general.
i guess while it may be nice to have the luxury of a guy like Shockey to throw to and have blocking, it isn't something that is needed to require to win... much less a second round pick for an arrogant bunghole from THE U.

Anyone who thinks a 2nd round pick, which could very well be towards the end of that round is worth more than Jeremy Shockey is a moron, plain and simple. Arguably one of the most productive TE's in all of football when healthy, if he wasnt a knucklehead and hurt, he'd require a couple #1's.
Seriously, a pick is like a lottery ticket, with Shockey the Saints have one of the best TE's in the game, and a great threat to spread the field for Coloston.
Jason Taylor is a perennial Pro Bowler, you are NOT finding someone like him within the first 3 picks of the first round and with 5 years of seasoning, so thats another moronic statement

Lamont Jordan signs with the Patriots I like Jordan. I think he can put up some decent numbers behind Maroney.
