Looks like Miami has started clearing house. Come on Falcons, let's start cutting some folks!

How about that Probowl, NFC actually won. I wish they would've thrown it to Torry Holt more though Holt is just a shell of what he used to be, unfortunately. He may just be unhealthy, but it might also just be that he's getting old. I do hope he's back to 100% next year. Sadly, you're right. Hopefully his knee will be back to 100%.

hey tim who do you think the chargers should take in the draft? honestly, in every mock draft i've done... San Diego has been the toughest team to project every time. the only team I have a really intimate knowledge of is the Eagles, so for the other 31 teams I just try to put myself in the shoes of their GM and make the best pick. San Diego is frigging loaded. and they're young. they're 2-deep at QB, 3-deep at RB, have one of the best FB and TEs in the game, a great young LT and a great OG in Dielman. on defense they've got a rotation of great young linebackers, a group of CBs that are really coming into their own, two very good book ends, arguably the best NT in the game, and they've invested in the future at Safety with guys like Eric Weddle. there isn't really a true "need" that jumps out at me, so I think they'll likely take the best player available at their pick, or trade down into the 2nd round and grab some extra picks. I think they'd like to upgrade at RT where Olivea has been somewhat disappointing after he seemed like a draft steal a few years ago. there are only a few true Nose Tackle prospects in the draft, but I'm sure they'd like to get younger at NT with Jamal Williams going on 32 years old. maybe they grab a Strong Safety prospect if Weddle is settled in as the FS. the Chargers are in a real nice position. AJ Smith has done an incredible job with the team over the last 6 or 7 years, and they could cement their status as a perennial AFC contender with a nice, "safe" draft. in my most recent mock I think I had them taking Sam Baker from USC, an OT that a lot of people project to slide inside to OG. he's a local guy who started 3 years at USC and fits that "safe pick" mold that I think the Chargers will aim for.

By the way, Tim, I've heard numerous rumors from supposedly credible reports that Lorenzo Neal will be retiring this off-season... So that could be a potential hole to fill for the Chargers this season (though obviously not EARLY in the draft).

yeah, that wouldn't shock me. dude has taken his lumps over the years. and if another Fullback ever gets into the HoF, Lozo should be at the top of the list for consideration.
unfortunately, there's virtually no "true" fullback prospects in this draft. last year there was Alabama's LeRon McClain, a true throwback FB whose sole objective was to put his hat on a defender and open a running lane. Baltimore drafted him in like the 5th round I think, and outside of him there were no true FB prospects in last year's draft either. too many college offenses run spread systems now, which means if you're a college FB and you want to get on the field, you need to be better at running and catching than blocking. there's a ton of versatile guys like that this year... Arkansas' Peyton Hillis, LSU's Jacob Hester, WVU's Owen Schmitt. but none of them will line up every play and just jack up a linebacker to help the running game.
pansies !

For those who care, Vikings defensive end Kenechi Udeze has been diagnosed with leukemia (blood cancer) and is currently undergoing treatment at a local Twin Cities hospital. He will be going through chemotherapy very soon.
There is a good chance that he will never play football again.
24 years old, recently became a father... This is just a very sad situation.

So is Brad Childress gonna dock his pay when he undergoes treatment? Sounds like something the Vikings organization would do.

wow, thats terrible. it puts things into perspective when you see these big, physically gifted athletes get stricken by the same crippling diseases that cut down "average joes" every day. guys like Jon Lester and Kenechi Udeze are just as human as you and me at the end of the day, and they're in for just as tough of a fight as anyone else with such a disease.
i wish him the best in his fight and hope he gets the chance to be the best father that he can be. getting back onto the football field will be the least of his concerns

Do you think they can strip all the Patriots Superbowl wins after new reports indicate they've been taping since 2000?
I got to say I don't think this is isolated to ONE team, I guarantee others have done it they just haven't gotten caught.

If the Patriots are guilty, they need to be punished, flat out. Odds are they arent the only team that did this, I bet they werent the only team doing it in 2007 either.
Stripping titles never happens, NCAA barely does it and they erase teams from the record books, but never an actual winner.
Frankly, doenst a US Senator, in an election year have anything better to do than figure out of a football team was video taping another tape 8 years ago>

The Falcons are supposed to make some serious cuts today. Rod Coleman has already supposedly been cut.
Alge Crumpler, Keith Brooking, Brian Finneran, Lawyer Milloy, Warrick Dunn, and pretty much the entire offensive line are on the chopping block.

I expect us to have a worse record than '07, but I actually expect the team to be better and more exciting to watch. I am all for mass change.

Oh, and Harrington and Leftwich are also on the block too. I expect Leftwich to stay though.
