CM Punk vs. The Undertaker comes to mind. I remember people thinking Punk was gonna win. Fools, all of them.

Most of Taker's matches. After the HBK match (the first one) it was the same formula, kick outs of loads of finishers.

Has to be a classic match if it didn’t happen at least 5 years ago it doesn’t belong here. Especially a match that hasn’t even happened yet. Don’t make me lock it.
And the Hitman vs Iron Man match was actually one of HBK’s entertaining WrestleMania matches. They both told a great story. The end was utterly stupid, but the firat 60 minutes was a thing of art. For a guy who’s supposed to be Mr WrestleMania there’s only a handful of his WM matches I actually remember from after he returned. People talk about his two matches vs Undertaker but I honestly don’t remember much about either match. From what I do remember from the two matches are blurred together in my mind. The WMXX, WM vs Jericho and Flair retirement matches are the only ones I really remember from after his return.

Agreed, I actually liked the Iron Man Match, I thought they were really building toward a rematch at the next Mania (which was supposed to happen before Shawn lost his smile) with the fact that it was a close contest, no finishes till the end, and with the fact that Bret didn't shake Shawn's hand at the end. The first 20 minutes or so can be difficult, especially for fans of today's wrestling, but the last 40 minutes were gold. With that being said, I am a fan of both of these guys and always enjoyed their matches together - even dating back to when they were in tag teams and wrestled each other. I think the thing that makes this match as great as it was has to be the fact that they hit their marks, I believe Bret said that if everything went as planned when he got up on the second turnbuckle towards the end of the match the clock should be at 5 minutes to go. When he did get up on the turnbuckle and looked up at the clock, the clock read 4:59, that's pretty impressive. As for the Mr. WrestleMania title, I think Savage should be given a chance at that moniker. He had 2 of the top 5 matches in Mania history (vs. Steamboat at WM3 and vs. Warrior at WM7) and 3 in the top ten (vs. Flair at WM8).

Cena v Batista at WM 26...the announcers put that match over like it was the greatest thing since bagged milk.
It was pretty good. But it damn sure wasn't a classic.

Steamboat-Macho Man. It was a standard RAW match.

Steamboat-Macho Man. It was a standard RAW match. Not at the time, for 1987 land of the giants WWF it was amazing. Just listen to the commentary, both Monsoon and Ventura are breathless. I would say that the Wrestlemania 10 HBK Vs Razor ladder match suffers the same as Steamboat Vs Savage, it seems a bit tame to modern eyes but at the time it was revolutionary. And MKSavage that Savage Vs Warrior Wrestlemania 7 match is my all time favourite, narrowly beating Austin Vs Bret. Overall I think the OP's question is a difficult one, given the 34 Wrestlemania's there are not that many amazing matches to me.

And I agree, the Savage v Steamboat match is definitely a classic, but because of the way Raw matches are now I can see why someone would say that. But I believe a lot of what is done today was taken from the Steamboat v Savage match which makes it even more amazing. Before Steamboat v Savage you never saw that many almost pins in a match and the uptempo/pace (very revolutionary for its time).

I think the whole Savage/Elizabeth thing just pushes it over the line for me. Had the Screwjob not happened and we got Austin Vs Bret II (Wrestlemania wise) at 14 my opinion may have been different. Hell, Steamboat/Savage is the blueprint for modern wrestling.

WM12 HBK vs Hitman HANDS DOWN. the love this f*ckin snorefest gets mystifies me. It gets good in the last 8-10 minutes but the rest holds....good god the rest holds....
They would have been better having them wrestle their standard match and it going to a 30 minute time limit draw then restarting for 5 or something.

I have said it a million times, but Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels. Both these guys are in my top five of all time, but the two of them could not put aside their egos to tear the house down all because neither man would have been willing to take that first fall. There is no way in hell Shawn Michaels was going to be pinned or submit in this match, even if he were to get the title at the end of it.
I watched this live back in 1996 and I vividly remember me and all my friends being bitterly disappointed with how boring it was. The whole "telling a story" thing is always used for this match, but the story they told was boring as shit. I remember me and my three closest friends had a bit of a pool going on where we were guessing how many decisions it would be and so on.... not one of us predicted it would be 0-0 after 60 minutes I can assure you of that.
For me this is one of those matches that people feel like they have to say they like. It was boring watching it live and I would bet for a younger fan going back and watching this must be absolutely brutal.

Easy Angle Vs. HBK at WM 21.While a good match not nearly the classic most make it out to be.People hype it up as one of the ten best matches in Wrestlemania history and some even as a top ten match of the decade in the 2000's.Again it was a good match but have always felt that their rematch at Vengeance that year was far better.
