Rewatching old Nitros/Raws and something that stands out are the ref storylines. I know we've have Maddox and Scott Armstrong in recent years but I'm talking about ACTUAL heel/face refs. Back then they just seemed to be a bit more important compared to today's standard. Would it make a difference in today's product? Would it matter? Just a question I asked myself so now I ask you guys lol

I hope not. I've never watched wrestling to see what the ref is up to. Keep them (and commentators) out of storylines please.

Only time a ref should matter is if they get knocked out here and there

In Mexico the heel referee works fine in storyline, but here in the states it works every now and then but if done too much, its not good. Id rather not see referees in storylines today.

I wouldn't make them part of the storylines or anything.
What i would like though, is if WWE introduced them like other companies and UFC do. Mainly in big title matches, just do what JB did in TNA - "The following contest scheduled for 1 fall, is for the TNA (WWE) Championship, your Referee in charge *****" Then introduce champ/challenger.

I wouldn't mind them actually acknowledging the ref's names on a consistent basis other than treating them like they're nothing.
Refs have just as hard of a job as the wrestlers because more often than not when they're trying to keep the matches together and timed correctly, they're also building and tearing down the rings.

I like when the referees would fight each other during matches. It happens a lot in Mexico.

yes and no. it was cool once in awhile to insert some kind of referee storyline into the show, just because it usually added to a feud. like, i kind of miss seeing "special guest referees", seems like they dont do that much anymore
it also didnt bother me when they would acknowledge the refs on TV, say who they were etc
instead of nowadays where they basically pretend they dont even exist, they arent allowed to have personality and they are just like a thing that takes up space in the ring

Not like actually in story lines but given a little more attention.

Not if it means we get 1996 Chris Jericho w/one arm tied behind his back vs Nick Patrick type stuff.

I wouldn't mind it, but have to agree that it isn't needed. I think the interviewers could use more personality, at least to give the wrestlers something to play off of.
Then again, with everything being scripted by 50 writers nowadays...

At the end of the day WWE is Sports Entertainment and non wrestlers should be given some character. Mene Gene, Jim Ross, Danny Davis all stood out and it's something that lacks in todays WWE.
