I'm seeing people are confused about the top of the cell spot. Foley was supposed to go through the top of the cell, just not the way it happened. The panel was supposed to cave in after Foley took one or two bumps and from there Taker was to kick Foley who would have been holding on to the top of the cell, kind of like how Taker stepped on Shawns hands in the first HIAC to make him crash down.

WTF!!!! We don’t bad mouth the King of Queens on this board. You want to bad mouth Foley that’s fine, but when you talk trash about Kevin James that’s where I draw the line!!!! I love Kevin James and the King of Queens is my all-time favorite sitcom. I watched episode of that every day. LOL. I watched most of the show's episodes but really only cared for Carrie, Arthur and Deacon. There's only so many episodes you can play "fat guy in peril" before it becomes old. And if that's all you can play, you're probably not that good of an actor. I can't see Kevin, like Mick, becoming famous any earlier than the late 1990s. I can't see him getting popular when there were so many really good or great actor-comedians up to the 1980s. As for Mick, it's really low and classless what he did with the cheap pops t-shirt designer. I'm sure Mick knew full well that he was stringing them along all with the idea that he would have his own t-shirt produced without having to pay the guys. He probably had his designer do it all for free, too. Does anyone know the story about he and Dave Madman Kelly? The explanation of the story isn't in the 51 page thread and a google search yields nothing. I would like a run down of the story.

I really enjoyed Mick Foley in his 1996 run as Mankind. His look gave us an awesome BCA series 3 figure....He was also really good as Cactus in early 2000.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. The only reason Kevin James is famous is because Chris Farley died. Eff Kevin James and Leah Remini.

Always thought the guy never had a dull moment. He was fun to watch him and Taker in his 1st coming, holding the tag titles with Austin was amusing, him with the Rock N Sock connection was cool. His feuds with HHH were great. I liked him.

I like Mick Foley. He had a long, storied career during a time when wrestling was the coolest thing on the planet.
I'll just leave it at that.

Mankind pre- Jim Ross interview is awesome to me. As a child who didn't see any of Cactus in WCW or ECW, I didn't immediately make the connection. Took me a couple Apter mags before I knew who he was. The promos, though heavily scripted, the character, as well as George the Rat (Cornettes pet rat), annnnd Paul Bearer, AWESOME.
I enjoy Foley as Cactus Jack in Japan, but maybe more for his opponents.
Not a fan of White shirt Mankind, and there's maybe 2-3 Dude Love matches I mark for. He does some good things in the ring selling wise, even while on offense that makes me appreciate him picking up a few things from Funk, but Foley is not my favorite.
Good but not great.

LOL RIGHT!!! I've had people try to defend those zip tie things. They could never give a proper defense.
Exactly! He was meant to go through the Cell. Or he would have jumped for the choke slam that Taker gave him if he was gonna be bouncing off the top mesh of the Cell.
The chair falling on his face?? Questionable. Either that was an accident, coming down and hitting him on the face like that, or it was supposed to come down with him but not hurt him.
Still, it's the only time I ever seen plastic zip ties used in a Hell in a Cell match!
Foley's fall was too perfect to be an accident. After the chokeslam the panel fully opened and Foley landed flat on his back. If it was a mistake he wouldn't have been prepared for the fall and he might have fell on his head or even on his side which could've killed him. Now admittedly the chair was most likely an accident and shouldn't have been lying on the panel that was meant to break. Also if he wasn't suppose to go through the cell how would both men have got back into the ring?

I don't know how this turned into a HIAC '98 thread, as I thought it was about Foley in general... He was always one of few that could make any gimmick work, and someone that wrestling fans could get behind, especially as a face. He had a believable style, even if he wasn't the best in the ring. He busted his ass(literally) for this business, and had some of the most storied matches and feud's of his generation. He may be a "glorified stuntman", but he did more than most wrestlers ever will. I enjoyed Cactus, Dude, Mankind, and just about everything Mick Foley ever did in the ring.
My one regret is that he didn't stay retired after his No Way Out match with Triple H. Thing's definitely went downhill from there, aside from his angle's with Orton and Edge. He should've hung the boots up then. But he's obviously made good money along the way.
Not the greatest, but almost always entertaining.
P.S. I met the guy when he was with TNA. Not the most personable, but not an a-hole either....

He always struck me as one of the most likeable people in the wrestling business. He was hugely entertaining, for me (granted my experience of it is from the network and youtube) the fourth most entertaining character during the Attitude Era (McMahon/Austin/Rock). He's great - that someone with Kevin Nash featuring heavily in his signature has the nerve to call Mick Foley overrated is mind-blowing.

I read the long thread with some negative Mick reports. Was he with TNA at the time? The negative reports I've seen in the past generally seemed to go hand in hand with him being with TNA while I've heard more positive reports over the last few years. No excuses, Mick should be one of the friendliest wrestlers there is based on the character he plays and the overall talent in relation to others. He surely is a glorified stunt man and I'm sorry he's had to go through all the hell his body and mind has taken for our enjoyment (also his livelihood) but with no ECW, no hardcore wrestling, no attitude era of WWF, there is no way he would be successful in any other era. Maybe 1980s Memphis wrestling with those Texas Tornado or food court brawl matches? He apparently is childhood friends with Kevin James which doesn't surprise me at all, two overweight guys with very little overall talent who have to rely on putting themselves down to get popular. Lucky for Kevin he had a good support network in multiple talent co-stars. And outside of his Paul Blart movies, he's basically just an extra in an Adam Sandler movie. For the other wrestlers during the attitude era, the Rock, Austin, Triple H, DX specifically-their talent was able to show in the attitude era but they didn't specifically have to rely on that era to get over. I can see them being successful in any other era but not Mick Foley, not without the extent of the hardcore things he was doing in the late 1990s and that type of style wasn't happening in earlier eras. King of Queens is one of the worst sitcoms in the long, awful history of sitcoms. Kevin James sucks.

Never failed to entertain me, aside from his more recent years run when he was forgetting crap in promos but obviously I get why. The dude gave his body to this business on a silver ing platter. It's fine to not be a fan but if you can't at the very least give him respect for the milage he put in, you can right off in my book.
