Why would it be an April Fool's joke??
Brutus Beefcake clearly deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. He did plenty for the wrestling business and WWE in the 80s and was even a vital part of WCW in the 90s.
Congratulations, Brutus!! You deserve it!

Yeah, it's not the same as inducting Ed Lesley himself, or his WCW characters. People mock him now, maybe rightly so, but there was a good chunk of time where he was over. Surprisingly so. It's also the WWE HoF. Not exactly stellar across the board.

Brutus main evented Summerslam and Wrestlemania... This one is very overdue.
Between DX, Honky, The Harts and Brutus this is easily the best all around HOF lineup we've ever seen.

I agree!!
In the 80s, Brutus Beefcake was my favourite wrestler, the Hart Foundation were my favourite tag team.
In the 90s, during the Attitude Era, DX was my favourite, so to see Brutus, Bret, Anvil, HBK, Billy, Road Dogg, X-Pac and Triple H all go in the same year.... just amazing. I am gonna have to buy this WrestleMania on DVD when it comes out JUST for the HOF.

From about late 1987 to his accident that forced him to retire in the summer of 1990 he was one of the top 5 faces in the company, and the crowd reactions for him were very loud. He was also a tag team champion and it was rumored that he might have gotten the IC title for a little run in 1990 had he not had the accident. He was a big part of the WWF in the boom days and was around for the rise of WCW during the Monday Night Wars. No one is saying he is one of the best to ever wrestle but if Koko B Ware, Johnny Rodz, and the Bushwhackers are in then I think Brutus is definitely deserving.

Beefcake absolutely did not main event WrestleMania. He main evented Starrcade and SummerSlam because of Hogan. To each their own. I thought he was garbage. No one is saying he is one of the best to ever wrestle but if Koko B Ware, Johnny Rodz, and the Bushwhackers are in then I think Brutus is definitely deserving. No argument there but that's more a slight than a compliment imo.

In the late 80s and early 99s the top faces were: Hogan Savage (while he was a face) Jake Beefcake Duggan
You can hear it in crowd pops.
Top heels were: DiBiase Rude Savage (as a heel)
Then everyone else

It was a matter of time. Brutus was a below average worker but nobody can deny that he was very over. I'm not upset, nor excited for this induction but good for Ed.

I was just using it as a point to those who would complain that the Barber is getting in when he was clearly more over than any of those I listed and those guys are in. Plus, he technically main-evented a Wrestle Mania, he and Hogan vs. Money Inc. were the co-main events for WM9 along with Bret vs. Yokozuna. In the late 80s and early 99s the top faces were: Hogan Savage (while he was a face) Jake Beefcake Duggan You can hear it in crowd pops. Top heels were: DiBiase Rude Savage (as a heel) Then everyone else You forgot Warrior as one of the top faces.

Good for him. I think people underestimate how popular Brutus was in the 80's. Sure once the Barber gimmick ended, he had some truly awful gimmicks. But for awhile there, I wouldn't bet against him being the third most popular act in the WWE (Only behind Warrior & Hogan).

Whether or not you liked his gimmick or his wrestling ability, you have to respect him coming back from a life altering accident to not only perform on the Barber Shop but to actually wrestle. If he truly was hanging on Hogan's coattails then he could have stayed behind the scenes or been his assistant out of the ring like he did in WCW for the first few months on TV but he has to have some passion for wrestling to have kept going.

Ive met Brutus Beefcake in person and he was a cool guy. The first wrestling figure I ever got was his Hasbro with pink tights. Im happy he is in, but I always thought the Barbershop Window had a better chance of being inducted.

I was never the biggest Brut-I fan but no doubt he was over like rover in the late 80s/early 90s and definitely deserves the nod.
His speech may go long because he sure does have a lot of gimmicks to cover!
