Looks like his gear got misplaced or he forgot it and threw something together and put a decal on regular black tights.

This was when HBK first came back from injury. If you look at his Survivor Series 02 gear it was odd brown boots and tights similar to this. The outfit in this video was made into a figure. Jakks Raw 10 I think.

Yes it was part of the RAW 10 Anniversary set. I though it was mentioned back then that it wasn’t completed in time.

I think Shawn Michaels was trying to stir away from the whole "Heartbreak Kid" thing here too. I believe he was going by "HBK" Shawn Michaels.
But at Armageddon 2002, it was like HBK just said to himself, "screw it, I am gonna wear the old style HBK tights" and he wore those red tights with the hearts on them like he wore from 1994 - 1998.

This was the week after he won the title at Survivor Series which, like others have already mentioned, saw HBK wearing that incomplete and very poopy brown attire.
I think the correlation between these two attires is that they were rushed. Shawn coming back at Survivor Series to win the belt was a late call by Vince. In Shawn's book he said that Vince phoned him one day and threw the idea at him of "the kid coming home and winning the belt at The Garden."
HBK has gone on record saying that the brown attire he wore at that event simply wasn't finished in time for the PPV so I'm going to assume for this follow-up attire he needed something much plainer/simpler that could be completed in quicker fashion.

I think you're right. He thought, new run, new gear. I believe the older ones said Heart Break Kid, while the newer ones just wrote out HBK. Maybe I am wrong. |
