There has been more good in wwe in 1988 than there has been since March 26, 2001 😂

Definitely wrestlefest 88. That show definitely deserved being a pay per view. Royal Rumble also should have been a pay per view even though there were a lot of kinks that had to be worked out, it was still pretty good. The WrestleMania IV and V set up was beyond awesome. We've never seen those stairs again on a wrestling show.

This may be a vague response, but whenever I think of the year 1988 I always consider it the absolute peak of the WWF glory days.
Born in 1987, I wasn't really in the loop yet, but I've always imagined being a 10 year-old around this time watching an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event upstairs at my old house on Brook Street in Linden.
It just seemed like the perfect time to have been an impressionable, young wrestling fan.

As silly as Akeem character was it probably gave him a longer time in WWF. With WWF going more family and kid friendly they needed a character like Akeem over One Man Gang. I think he enjoyed playing Akeem more too. Overall it was probably less work for better pay and he didn't have to do a hardcore style.

One of the greatest years ever in my book. So many great characters and angles I find it hard to find fault with this year and I love it. not much I can add that hasn't been listed above - really wished Wrestlefest had stayed as "summer time thing" one of my favourite event to watch on vhs as a kid
