Which guys who were around during the Hasbro era (89 to 94) never got included in the line but should have? Maybe one or more can be included in the retro line eventually. I've included a few choices that were a significant look/character change for an existing Hasbro figure. I've not included those who were scheduled to be included in upcoming series before the line was cancelled (Diesel, men on a mission, double j, bastion booger, etc)

I picked rugged ronnie garvin with garvin stomp action but unless you are talking about retros shouldn't this be on the other brands board?

Mattel seems to be continuing the line where Hasbro left off (1995) rather than filling in the missing spots from 1990-1994.

Yes to all I think if the Retro line continues then we’ll at least see: -Hart Foundation Jim Neidhart (probably need a matching Bret as well despite his Hasbros being so good; maybe a mid-90s heel Anvil could be a compromise if they didn’t want to do a Bret?) -Jerry Lawler (desperately wanted this Hasbro) -Bob Backlund (as above) Not sure we’ll get any of the others listed; maybe Mustafa if they can find a suitable body from the Sheik head?

If the Retro line continues, and im pretty sure it will, then i believe we are bound to see femaile wrestlers, tag teams, Bret Hart (alone or as a tag team), Roddy Piper, Andre, Hogan, Big Boss Man, Mr Perfect, and Honky Tonk Man. Possibilities are endless. I also find it just a little odd the Legends they are coming out with. Im totally cool with them and glad they are adding them to the line but Iron Sheik? Junkyard Dog? Again, I love them both but I would think they would make a Bret Hart and maybe a Hogan before them? They already did 2 Macho Man's.

Here's some sound advice for the Retro line.
I worked at Walmart and Target (mostly Target) in stocking for a couple years. I always stocked the toy department and was partially in charge of what to stock and when. Now, the problem with the retro line and stores is that they are being released way too fast in small spurts of 4 at a time. As a collector I certainly dont mind that, but stores do. When Mattel was coming out with Series 8 we were stocking the last of our Series 3's. Series 1 and 2 weren't as much of a problem because there were 6 figures to a series and a decent chunk of time between releases. Hence the reason why a lot of stores didn't see series 5, 6, 8, and 9. And some didnt even see series 4. Ours didnt. But then we ordered series 7 which is still clogging the pegs and we still have a couple cases to unload. Obviously we wont be getting series 9 or 10.
My advice, not that anyone is listening, but it would be to release the figures in sets of 8 instead of 4 in twice the time between sets as now. For example, Series 9 was released in April, Series 10 in June, etc. Thats a 2 month span. Stores cant keep up with that! If it was an 8 figure set in 4 months time then we would most likely get every series, every time and it would also probably increase the selling rate of the Retro line.
No one wants Mattel to stop making the Reteo figures. But some are so hard to get because they have very limited availability and are not in stores. I dont think series 9 was released to any stores anywhere. And it doesnt look like they will, either. Since series 10 is about to be released.
I know Mattel wont take my advice, they probably wont even read this. But trust me, that's their main problem with this line. Too many series' being released too quickly and stores cannot keep up, period.
Im probably one of the Retro Line's biggest supporters. As a collector of the Hasbro figures as a kid, I love these! I also love the anticipation of seeing who's coming out in the next set. No one wants to see these figures continue to be released as much as me. Im trying to help the issue with stores stocking these.

I agree on female wrestlers - I expect that that will be the big reveal for the Retros at SDCC this year, just based on me reading (probably too much) into Bill’s Q&A answers on the line back at Mania (I think). How they introduce them will be interesting - I drew-up a couple of possible female-only series that they could do if they decided to invest in 4-8 new figures in the space of a couple of years for example; the actions could basically be the same as the current figures, but the external bodies obviously would have to be created from scratch. More likely I think that we’ll get mixed-gender series going forward, probably with the same basic female figure or two being re-worked several times. We’ll see, but I think we’ll see women added soon. Sheik almost certainly was added to reuse the Xavier Woods figure, but it’s popularity has maybe soon that that era of guys is more popular than I at least expected. And whilst I don’t like the split-torso look on the figures (Retros or in the Ultimate line), the Sheik figure did look class. He and JYD are both my time (he was Mustafa when I was first watching), but obviously guys like us know and respect that era of WWE, so they’re a safe bet for Mattel to produce I think given the collectors market for the Retros.

Im trying to help the issue with stores stocking these. Really interesting to read that; thanks for taking the time. Do stores put focus on the actual series numbers rather than the release dates when making decisions? Like if they received 12 Retro figures within the same couple of months like they potentially did with series 4, 5 and 6 but they were all classed as series 4 then would the later waves make it onto the pegs without the initial four needing to be sold first? I’ve wondered why stores persist with old stock that no longer moves without adding some cases of new stock as they becomes available; I would think there would be a greater chance of moving old stock if they mixed-in some new stuff that could potentially grab a new customer’s attention - like if a kid walked into Target and saw The New Day suddenly on the pegs then that might get them into the line and thus interested in the Rollins or Ambrose figures that had been garnering dust for months. But what do I know. I doubt it helped either that Mattel have had some long, long droughts releasing new figures - wasn’t it like 6 months between series 3 and 4 coming-out? And then suddenly there was that blast of 4, 5 and 6, before another long delay until 7 came-out this year. My fear now is that the lack of news about series 11 doesn’t so much mean that we won’t see an 11th series at some point (which is of course the ultimate fear), but that we will not be seeing another series released until 5 or 6 months after series 10 arrives. It’s like the line never gets a chance to build any real momentum.

It’s like the line never gets a chance to build any real momentum. I think you both summed up the issues perfectly. I think 8 different figures per series/shipping box would be a better strategy. And also Mattel needs to have a better grasp on how many of a specific figure/wave will likely sell and not overproduce them. Series 3 and to a lesser extent 7 have been way over produced. Series 3 sat around for over a year at most targets. Why were so many produced? 7 doesn't seem as bad, but those are still sitting at the Walmart and the one Target I stop in. The other Target has been empty of all retros for over a month and hasn't restocked. So, 8 guys per series, new series every 3 months and higher concentration of flashbacks and lesser current guys and I think they could have a recipe for success.

I would love to see most if not all of those guys made - it was hard to just choose 8! Having had the hasbros as a kid (well, still do along with my WCW galoobs & some LJN bendies), this line pulled me in & is the only line I purchase.
So obviously I’m all about the golden/new gen era releases, but was drawn in & was buying all the current guys too. Until it became a massive pain in the ass trying to get them here in the U.K. so now I’m probably just gonna get the ones I like.
Not particularly interested in the women as a whole; but if they look cool & match in well I would get some, also to make customs of old skool managers/valets.
