So Adam Cole is the new NXT Champion, and of course I am sure Gargano will get a rematch eventually. But the baby face contenders for Cole are very slim to none.
Johnny Gargano Matt Riddle
.....  ? Who else??
Velveteen Dream is busy with the NA Title, but even that is lacking contenders right now.
If EC3 had stayed with NXT, he would be the perfect new number 1 contender to go against Cole, instead of just doing nothing on the main roster.
I know everyone loves NXT around here for the most part, but even the true hardcore NXT fans have to see that right now is a bad time period for NXT with the lack of talent that can be taken seriously in main event roles there.

Its hard to enjoy and fully invest in NXT for me because Vince calls guys up just for shock value imo so many people have been called up just to get a reaction like EC3 and Sanity.
Where is Keith Lee?
Edit: I heard rumors that Riddle may be coming up sooner rather than later

Same can be said for many NXT call-ups. Including Aliester Black, The Viking Raiders and Ricochet.

yep, NXT went from stacked to near barren real quick. let’s see how fast that character developing machine can work, but with no big recent signings to fall back on it’s a first for NXT.

It’s time to test how good NXT is at developing talent, rather than just hiring the popular indie guys.
EC3 wasn’t very impressive in NXT. I’d rather keep him where he is, and send Harper, Ziggler and Cesaro to fill out the NXT roster. Apollo Crews and Mojo Rawley might as well go back to developmental too, if they’re gonna be kept under contract.

How are the barren on indy talent? i guess i meant established indie talent. out of those names, they're not as crazy over with the nxt/smark community as a lot of the main faces of the past. i could be wrong though, kushida obviously has some hype to him. |

I think EC3 was just okay in NXT. But I suspect his time will come on the main roster... in due time.
But I say, Send...
Fandango down to team with Breeze
Harper down to team with Ohno
Crews down to find a character
Gulak down to have fantastic matches
Gable over to NXT:UK to be the overly American heel
Dana Brooke to continue to improve
All would help beef up the NXT rosters and main roster wouldn't even skip a beat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time EC3 was seen on NXT he was taken out by the UE?
Had they just kept him off all TV and not wasted his call up, this would have been the perfect time to bring him back and feud with Cole. The story is already written.

I get the premise of your argument but I disagree that EC3 should still be in NXT. EC3 is like a perfect Vince wrestler. Great talker, meat and potatoes power worker, and he’s plenty... vascular.
I would love to see Kushida vs Cole in a mini feud and then definitely Cole vs Lee. This is definitely an opportunity for a guy to climb the ladder. I went to an NXT live show last month and Eric Bugenhagen is super over already. So he’s a guy I think will by on the babyface rise over the next year.
I mean Riddle is the guy to eventually run Cole down but we’ll see if it gets that far. They could both conceivably be called up before it happens.

Vince McMahon probably just has his asshairs in an uproar because he didn't create the EC3 character, TNA did. So if he pushes EC3 it's almost admitting that TNA had a good idea. Cole definitely doesn't have any competition besides Matt Riddle. Dream will have Strong to worry about and the Fish/O' Reilly are going after the Tag Titles. I believe once Undisputed Era leaves, NXT will be dead in the water. There's no way upcoming wrestlers are going to be able to carry the brand. Most of the top Indie Wrestlers are going to AEW now.
Look at this weeks episode of NXT for example. It sucked completely with their top stars not being there.
