I wish the alternate Konnan head was unmasked The whole point of this one is that it's the first real masked Konnan figure. Having an unmasked head kinda defeats that purpose. Not if it still has the other head with the mask 🥴

So super 7, boss fight and masked republic are all making luncha figures all around the same time?
Is this because the wrestlers were around different promotions or because they as individuals own the gimmicks? My basic understanding of Lucha historically was the promotion owned the gimmick, hence why there have been instances of Luchas being portrayed by different wrestlers. If this is the case, why do so many companies own the licenses for sometimes the same figures?

So super 7, boss fight and masked republic are all making luncha figures all around the same time? MAsked Republic aren't making anything. They're the company behind the Legends of Lucha Libre brand who are being licensed to Boss Fight and Super7. Super7's license only covered M.U.S.C.L.E. and the 3.75" ReAction figures. Boss Fight's license seems to be that they can make basically anything else. Promotions owning the likenesses didn't really start until the 90s with AAA and Antonio Pena trademarking gimmicks like La Parka. A lot of guys either own their gimmicks outright, or like LA Park, they change their name a little bit and have a slightly different costume. But in the case of the recent lucha figures, it's because multiple companies are licensing the wrestlers through Masked Republic. Masked Republic have a bunch of luchadores and luchadoras under contract for licensing purposes.

I’ve wanted to delve deeper the Lucha world but it’s a bit of a maze really for someone like me who only knows from what I’ve seen in wcw/ecw and the short stint in 95-ish that wwe had a few aaa (I think) stars in rumbles etc and seen a few clips. Traditional Lucha is from what I can see almost like its own sport with different rules to traditional pro wrestling

There's a ton of stuff from Japan from the 90's and early 00's readily available in some of the content sharing communities, probably because it had the "work rate" reputation. Lucha content seems to be a LOT harder to find from those sources. There seems to be a few uploaders adding some of the weekly shows to Youtube over the past year or so, but the quality isn't great. But I'm all ears if anyone has any recommendations.

It's not like Japanese wrestling where there were a lot of commercially released tapes and was heavily traded anyway (which is why there's so much that's easily accessible), with lucha what we have is kinda what we're gonna get. Roy Lucier's uploaded a bunch of stuff, and he has Mike Tenay's tape collection now so if the quality on those aren't good enough, I don't really know what to say. Better quality doesn't really exist.

It's a shame that we didn't get a lot more Series from the Lucha Libre Masked Warriors line that came out quite a few years ago. Those were pretty cool at the time for what they were. The line ended before they really began.

Messaged boss fight earlier about the penta and fenix and got this reply
"Due to the Corona slow downs in the factory, it looks like the first Lucha Product will be delayed until late Fall. We’re still working to get them out and up to our standards"
Looks like they have been delayed even more unfortunately

Just doesn’t sound like this line will be a success and I’m super excited for it too.

I was thinking what are the odds on aew s2 coming out before these..which will be a shame as I am hoping for this line to do well

I'm holding out home hope that this line can still get off the ground. A specialty product isn't going to be as susceptible to being rocked by an under-performing wave if they still have faith in the concept. Boss Fight is a small company, and I get the impression that they have big plans for the Lucha license as a whole.
But definitely a bummer to see these delayed. I'm still really interested in seeing what they can offer.

From what I know from talking to people involved and from what I've heard the designer say in interviews, they're very much committed to the line and it seems like they really do view it as something they can build out and built around. I think this is the worst possible scenario for their first wave, but once they get things going with the Fanaticos/Basics and the second wave of Collectors Series figures up, they'll be good to go. There's a lot of people licensed to Masked Republic that have either never had figures, or if they have it's been well over a decade. It's a line that I think has a lot of potential, I know I've been waiting for a high-end lucha line forever.

I'm very excited for these figures and I will back them however I can. It is a bummer Pentagon and Fenix have been pushed back so far, but I'm sure they will be worth the wait. I can't wait to see what else BFS has planned for this line. Hopefully they will have some news or reveals around SDCC time.

They had reveals for Expo Lucha in August, so my guess is we'll see new product around then. I'm really interested to see how the protos for their "basic" line look.

I’ll have to look into seeing if I can cancel my preorder. I don’t want to be negative but I prefer their AEW figures that were revealed after I placed my order for these. If these aren’t coming earlier than those I don’t have much of a need for them.

Guess Vampiro had a change of heart, concept art for his Fanaticos/Basic style figure just got posted on Twitter with confirmation he's also going to get a Collectors Series figure eventually.
Also, an interesting conflict of messages between Boss Fight saying the Lucha Bros are coming later this year and what Masked Republic are saying. This tweet is from three days ago.

They said they have multiple design hopes for Vampiro too. They wanted to do CMLL first, and Vampiro actually sounded excited and wanted to show the designers his new gear/gimmick first incase they wanted to make it too.
