Also, years of steroid use would've likely accelerated the breakdown of his body heading into his 40s. Benoit was a small guy in a big man's business. He was one of the best at what he did because of his very physical high-impact style. Keeping up that kind of work rate would have been difficult. He took his in-ring sh*t seriously so it's hard for me to believe a pro like him would stick around if he wasn't able to maintain his own high standards.
