I think he could've been great for Smackdown in 2006. they really could've used him

it was smart of him, he didn’t diminish his value and instead regained momentum for future runs.

Jericho had to leave though. He was so burnt out. You could even tell then that creative was taking its toll on the guys. When guys like Jericho chose to leave the company, and Christian chose to sign with TNA.
I honestly can't picture what Jericho would have done in the WWE in 2006 or even all through 2007. To me he didn't really fit back in with the company until his feud with HBK in the summer of 2008.
