So I just got done with watching Shane and mr generic vs Roman and Undertaker because, well it's The Undertaker and I make an effort to watch him while he's still active. And I've come away wondering how do people tolerate this commentary?
Hardly any attempt is made to ever sell any of the action, they come up with these awful little phrases and nicknames. To think how much good commentary can add (think Mankind vs. Undertaker), I feel like even if the action was as good as it was 'back in the day' any tv viewer wouldn't be able to feel it. This commentary strips it all away.

I think this was the exact thing JR pointed out in his CVV interview. Please call the moves as they happen, it is a good knowledge base for the viewer. Joey Styles, we need you!

It's been worse, but it still sucks. Smackdown would be good if Graves wasn't such a dick and just called the matches like he used to in NXT. Speaking of NXT, the trio of Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson was the best in WWE for well over a decade until they completely ruined it by replacing Percy with the overly forced Beth.

Michael Cole has never been good. Hes simply not a play by play guy. Hes a walking/talking billboard.

It's been said for years even dating back to Jim Ross in the booth that the WWE doesn't want a guy to call the match with moves, he wants them to talk about it as a story, so the viewer can understand what's happening. Because we are apparently all idiots.

Graves, Ranallo and McGuinness are the only commentators I enjoy listening to. Phillips and Cole are tolerable and the rest are god awful. I cannot stand Bryon Saxton in the slightest.

It is what it is. 70% of the time I am not even paying attention to them. But that’s the same with every announcer team in the WWE. I think Graves, Phillips and Cole are the three best they have. The rest of the RAW/SD/NXT are horrible.

i just cant stand how over-the-top and cornball the commentary is nowadays. constantly treating the viewer like they are a complete idiot, yelling at each other, yelling out "OHH!" and "OWWW!" at stupid moments. its like they are all trying to talk to kids at an 8 year olds birthday party. it just doesnt fit the culture. its always kind of been this way but it feels soooooooo forced and fake now.

I did love the real moment Graves and Young had last night after the 24/7 segment that saw R Truth win back the title. "He got him with a small package" and they both snickered like little kids lol. I could just imagine Vince in guerrilla screaming at them to get back to the script!

The only good ones are Graves and Cole.
The worst thing they ever did was put Saxon and Phillps together. I have no idea which one is talking because they sound identical.

Haven't enjoyed it in years. The best was Jr/Lawler, Joey/Tazz, Cole/JBL the best imo

Commentary has been a problem for years. I say more so ever since they have 3 people to call the “action”. You don’t need 3 people. Their sales pitch (calling the match) script is horrible. Nothing they say sounds exciting and genuine.
Graves is the only worth wild commentator they have. The rest are horrible especially Renee.

When Cole does his job, yeah. It's Corey's job to color with Byron and Renee, but the commentary being good or awful hinges on Cole wanting to do his job or not. Hell, Corey and Renee have to cover his ass half the time. SmackDown ain't too bad. Tom generally does his job unless Vince is yelling at him.
