When they debuted the Brood he was obviously the star but he ended up accomplishing the least of the 3. Did he get injured? Politics? Is he black listed? I thought him & Luna made a great couple. He didn't even get a jakks cs figure not the biggest fan of his, just wondering.

I heard (not sure if true) that Vince got pretty pissed with him over his shirt coming undone and his stomach showing in various matches. Sounds petty, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.

I always liked Gangrel, his entrance was badass and he was an interesting character. I have told this story on here before, but it always makes me smile Back in 1999 while I was in college (I am old AF, what happened?) there was "wrestling" at the local sports/community center. It was a local promotion and to drum up business they had their wrestles play various WWE wrestlers. One match was Undertaker vs Gangrel. The dude who was Gangrel tried his best to do the whole entrance, but there was a problem. the area of town this place was located was not exactly nice. So when he spat out the "blood" he got it all over some dudes clothes and he lost his crapand proceeded to beat the crapout of the guy being Gangrel. Security and the guy playing the Undertaker managed to get him out of there, but it was hilarious.

The whole point of the Brood was to eventually make Edge be the man. But Vince wanted Gangrel to be a big time player too. But on that Smackdown special in 1999 when Gangrel talked and botched it so badly, he was doomed. Edge took over that night and talked and boom! Edge was a star. So they went with Edge and Christian as a team and the rest is history.

The real deal with Gangrel is that he's Mr. Copeland's assistant. He's in his early fifties, is unmarried, and currently resides in Florida. Thanks for posting!

According to Gangrel himself, I believe he said in a shoot that Vince wasn never into the whole vampire gimmick, he didnt understand it or how it would get over.

I loved The Brood and thought their music was awesome. I can't help but feel that their gimmick was in the wrong era.
10 years ago it would've been perfect with the whole vampire phase with the likes of Twilight, Vampire Diaries etc.

I don't think the teenage girls hooked on Twilight etc around 2010 would be drawn to Gangrel's look. They'd need someone who looks like Robert Pattinson to play the role to get it over with them.

Gangrel was a decent enough star on his own, but like with the 80's early 90's craze guys that were big time players every where become WWE mid-carders, jobbers to the stars. Just like when Tony Anthony aka TL Hopper, Tracy Smothers aka Freddie Joe Floyd, Wild Bill Irwin aka the Goon. These guys will sign the big money contract with WWE and become jokes because money talks. Point of the Brood faction was to get everyone over Hardys and Edge and Christian became huge stars out of it.

That's so stupid he isn't even fat. I mean he's more on the bulky side of bodies. But you can tell he works out. That's so f'n stupid.

But he was leaning on the line of couple more pounds of fat and it's done deal tbh.

I guess nobody really remembers him being in wwf from 93-95 then ecw in 95 and wcw in 98 shortly before his debut in wwf at all ?

I remember his time in ECW well. like Matt Bourne, I wish we’d gotten more of him in ECW. Paul with a vampire character would’ve been interesting. can’t remember him in wcw at all though.

It's funny how the whole Brood thing came about. Someone in creative saw a newspaper article about a "vampire gang" in Connecticut and they thought it would be a cool gimmick to bring to the WWF. So they found David Heath and the rest is history. And yea, they thought he was just not very good (I don't agree) and couldn't carry the team. But still, one of the greatest entrances of all time with the fire pit!

Gangrel will probably never get merch/in video games again as some other company owns his name. They were able to get away with it for WWE 13, but only because THQ was going bankrupt anyway.
