... what's the first wrestling feud that comes to mind for you?
For me, it's always Jake "The Snake" Roberts VS. Ravishing Rick Rude. These two made it look personal every single time they went out there. Like they absolutely hated each other. Not over a title, not over whom was in whose spot, not over whatever cliched feud starters that seem to be the standards these days.
Oh, and I always found it amusing that it had started over Rude unknowingly hitting on Jake's wife, when as mentioned in the "Ravishing Rick Rude" thread that Rude himself would often set up that same scenario in real life with his own wife so he could start fights with other dudes.

Savage/Jake from 91. Just for the promos alone from both guys made you feel like yeah this is a blood feud.It really felt like Savage wanted to kill Jake for what he did at the wedding reception.
Great booking all around with this one and definitely a feud that immediately comes to mind when I think of that word.

I'd been watching for a few years but this feud was completely engaging. Another one that comes to mind is Austin/Bret, they didn't need a belt but they made it look like they really hated one another and their matches were awesome. Warrior/Savage also comes to mind, both in 1991 and 1992, I really love the build up to Summer Slam 1992.

I think for me I’d go Shawn Michaels v Bret Hart. So many layers to it. The line between fact and fiction was so distorted.
Montreal, sunny days, backstage fight, losing smiles, the real life friction enhanced what was scripted for television.
And like MKsavage said Austin v Bret (and extended to the whole Hart Foundation) was another scorcher. Unfortunately, we’ll never see the likes of those again.

With the way wrestling is today- over produced and scripted promos- forget it! To answer the OP's question- Midnight Express vs Rock N Roll Express.

Snuka vs Piper that is the first one that pops in my mind for feuds and WWF/E feuds. Other promotions I think.... Von Erichs vs Freebirds Sting vs Flair Bret vs Austin Dusty vs Flair/ Horsemen Magnum vs Nikita Magnum vs Tully
All those stand out to me. But Snuka vs Piper is number 1 to me.

A lot of the undercard was not quite ready for the main event (it took them another year or two before that), Shawn was really in limbo at this time and not really working and Undertaker as WWF champion really didn't have anyone great to work with.

Feud for me instantly sparks thoughts of guys who really looked like they wanted to kill one another...over MANY matches. When it happened in the ring...man oh man it would be magic...sometimes bloody and seriously intense
1) Jerry Lawler vs Eddie Gilbert..... 2) Dusty Rhodes vs Ric Flair/Horsemen 3) Hulk Hogan vs Macho Man Randy Savage in 1989 4) Jake Roberts vs Rude or Savage 5) Sting vs Flair on the run in to GAB 1990(Stings return from injury etc) 6) Undertaker vs Mankind....these 2 f*cking BROUGHT IT. 7) HHH vs Rock....so many types of matches...both guys being face....brilliant. 8) Austin vs McMahon...it'll go down in history as top 5. the heat on Vinnie...the reactions for Austin. Never to be duplicated. 9) Sgt Slaughter vs The Iron Sheik...whoooo boy. 10) Tommy Dreamer vs Raven.....good god.
could have put way more ECW in there since their feuds were mental. But I tried to spread it out.

Freebirds vs Von Erichs Rhodes vs Flair Piper vs Snuka Rich vs Sawyer Rhodes vs Sullivan Imagine any of today's lame feuds even holding a candlestick to any of these? I'm talking the main roster. On NXT Ciampa vs Gargano and Bayley vs Sasha Banks were awesome. I know a lot of people that don't frequent the classic section don't watch raw or smackdown, but you should give NXT a chance. I can't think of any feuds over the last 18 years on wwe that were as good as any mentioned here.

If the WWE had better writers, it might have been incredible.

If the WWE had better writers, it might have been incredible. There's a lot of feuds that could have been great over the last 18 years, but the problem is the writers! There's so many of them! That's what is wrong. The last 18 years have had writers instead of a booking team and it's become over produced and overly scripted hence why feuds haven't been great like the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even 2000. That year had awesome feuds like Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit, Undertaker vs Kurt Angle and Hunter's feuds with Foley, Rock, Jericho, and Angle.

Not WWE but when Harris & Storm split Americas Most Wanted in TNA that feud was WHITE hot...…..INCREDIBLE. Also:
1) The Sheik vs Abdullah The Butcher 2) Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah The Butcher 3) Stan Hansen vs Vader in Japan
Good grief...…...

And I think they have their own board. Although if they do I have never visited it. But this is the classic wrestling board and seeing we talk WWE, WCW, WCCW. AWA I guess TNA would fit here as well as long as like everything else it’s at least five years ago.
