I can't believe it, but I'm passing on the game this year. it just feels like it's going to be the exact same thing it's been for years. And honestly for some that may be fine. It's even been fine for me the last few years. I play these games all year long using Universe mode. But now, each time I turn on 2K19, I just feel instantly board and done. And 2K20 will be the exact same thing, just with new wrestlers.
At this point, I'm burnt out.
And part of it's not even 2K's fault. I have played these games so long, I am to good at them lol. I can't be beat by the CPU, and I don't have any desire to play online. It's just the same repetitive thing over and over. No challenge, and nothing new.
I don't know what I need them to do to get me back in it, but right now it just isn't there.
Any other year I would have pre ordered by now, and this year I haven't. At this point I just need a different kind of game all together. Maybe I will grab Jedi Fallen Order, or go back and get the last 2 Assassins Creed games I missed.

I'm going to pass as well, I waited to get 2K19 for cheap and barely played it. Gameplay just doesn't do it for me anymore so I'll just stick to Fire Pro.

Just saw the soundtrack for the game. I literally only heard of one song in it but then again i hardly listen to modern music today.
Banks – “Gimme”
Barns Courtney – “99”
Bring Me The Horizon ft. Dani Filth – “Wonderful Life”
Grandson – “Stigmata”
Lil Uzi Vert – “XOTour Llif3”
Motley Crue ft. Machine Gun Kelly – “The Dirt”
Muse – “The Dark Side”
Poppy – “METAL”
Saweetie – “Icy Girl”
The Black Keys – “LO / HI”
The Misfits – “Hybrid Moments”
Watt ft. Post Malone – “Burning Man"
I'll listen to the soundtrack at work. I'll judge more afterward

I like that soundtrack. Only songs I probably won't listen to are "Gimme" and "Icy Girl".
What I do every year though is make a Spotify playlist and add the official soundtrack to it, and then probably at least 45 more songs that range from Hip-Hop, to Rock, to Metal, to Electronic. Mostly modern songs but a few Throwbacks to fit the theme of how 2K makes the soundtracks.

Bring me the Horizon is the only band on that list I definitely know I've listened to and am kind of familiar with. Not a big music guy, so I'll just use superstar music as my menu music.

I like some of the soundtrack, specifically Misfits and Muse but despise most of it. I'm still curious about the roster (which there's no excuse not to have fully revealed), but I'm pretty much out. I just bought SVR 2007 yesterday and am enjoying the more simplistic controls and fun throwback characters (including Hogan), but most of all I'm happy to have GM Mode again. I can only imagine what they could've done with it if they kept it in, but as bare bones as it is its still miles and miles better than Universe.

Just for a fun discussion, what else do you think they could possibly add to it? I feel like it went as far as it could go other than customizing/choosing what brand you want, and Online Functionality.

Regarding larger operational changes, cut scenes specific to the storylines attributed to rivalries, a little bit more interaction between the warring brands (i.e. literal match interference from opposing superstars leading to instant no contests for a match, costing the show a star in rating, and setting up longer term rivalries and thusly giving you the option of using that superstar on your show occasionally), a few more automatic promo options, maybe even adding elements of Raw 2 for X-Box such as the backstage attack attempts for example) and potentially character-specific merch options to give someone a boost of morale and status. I could probably think of more, but cut scenes are the big one. As for smaller stuff that wouldn't really change the gameplay much I always thought it would be fun to actually select a character to be your named GM (bonus points for GM specific storylines/cutscenes)

I still feel like it would ultimately come down to winning Inter-promotional matches though. It always felt like everything is filler other than that, and there was never a huge gap between being in the lead or not; it was very rubber-banded. It's very minimal effort to manage contracts and the rest of your financials. Even if you did forget 1 time in SvR06 to renew Edge's contract (despite being reminded to renew it 5 times) when he was pushed and holding a title, it's not like a player is going to fall for that trick year after year.

Imo there's no reason not to have GM Mode. WWE 2K18 was the perfect time to put GM Mode back. The brand split was a year in and there was a draft. Supposedly the reason they dont add GM Mode is cause it didnt fit what WWE was doing, which was just moving guys from brand to brand without a draft. Its a dumb reason if true and personally if we had GM Mode in the games, id play every day. GM Mode would be so simple to add, that i doubt it would take any more disk space than what all we're getting is using already. They could keep Universe Mode as well, but GM Mode is something a lot of people want. Its not much of a spoken minority anymore wanting. Especially when Xavier Woods does a poll on Twitter about it, and 91% said they want GM Mode

I kinda wish someone would take another shot at putting out a better legends game than what we got before in the past but make it this time with a massive old school roster of over 200 characters to choose from and have a wwf wcw ecw style story mode to play similar to smackdown here comes the pain version

[/quote] That reminds me, I need to pick up Eddie's contract before Raw gets him. For me it's more having something to do. At least I feel like I have incentive in putting the show together. At least the storyline has some background info. Universe is a glorified exhibition mode. This guy vs this guy, little variation in what is considered a rivalry match. In GM Mode all you had to do was have two people in the same match, no matter what it was. Universe has a few good points, but they're very limited, and I'd still rather have the management aspects of GM Mode than directionless matches that go on every single week. More than anything else I'm shocked that they haven't even tried to do more with Universe. The final year of GM Mode was SVR 2008 (because of the roster one of my least favorite games in the series), but that year they had 24/7 mode, which although bad could've been a huge step in the right direction. In my mind Universe should be a combination of GM Mode and a general story mode with elements of Story Designer thrown in. That's exactly what I want from a game. A managenent modes where you select storylines that follow a specific course with specific cutscenes to follow the story. Storyline designer elements come in with regard to promos.

BoJack Hogan what you said in the last paragraph sounds similar to what I want to see from Universe mode. I want control over the storylines. I wanted to be able to choose from a pool of storylines and place whoever I want in them so they don't have generic rivalries all the time (also allow the A.I to auto book them if enabled). They could have different variables too, like depending on if the heel or face wins a certain week, or have different actions depending on their Personality Traits. The thing I'm not crazy over is the GM stuff. I would hate to bother with finances, morale and stuff. I just want to have my own brand, one brand if I wanted. I don't care for the Brand Warefare stuff, I want it to be a Show simulator (what Universe is actually supposed to be) with no restrictions.

I really like that idea too. I'd be satisfied with that, and actually was expecting Universe to get there. If Universe was as you described I wouldn't say a bad word about it (provided they managed to make it operate without embarrassing glitches). I could live without the management side if the action part was more interesting.
