Yeah, if it wasn't for the Four Horsewomen Showcase (which doesn't even have me at full excitement due to poor match selection), I wouldn't be excited for the game. It's just such a shame that my most wanted mode comes at a time where it looks like they've given up on the game. Less than 4 weeks until release, and we still don't have a roster reveal, a trailer, information on Universe mode. And the only footage we've got are a few scattered entrances and screenshots. Most of which have technical issues, which are a huge worry about the stability of the final product.
I remember an article before the release of 2K19 in which a higher-up of 2K released a statement that the WWE 2K franchise is very important to them, and that 2K20 would see an overhaul. Guess he was way off there.

The "highly requested lobby system" is back, but the highly requested GM Mode and Storyline Designer will never be mentioned again because they are too busy copying and pasting garbage Universe and coming up with towers of feces and other lame gimmicky crap.

I'm usually super hyped for the new game each year and I always preorder the digital deluxe version but so far I can't even justify it to myself. We don't even know the full roster yet, but honestly don't think there are even any major additions to the current roster that I care that much about, we've actually had more notable subtractions like Jericho and Ambrose. I cringe at the thought of playing a random royal rumble match and having to deal with ridiculous monster/zombie versions of wrestlers entering, it was bad enough you couldn't turn off Barron Blade last year. There is no excuse for custom music to not be back by now, or the much requested GM mode. It is awesome that Chyna is in but that doesn't look much like her to me at all. Is there any more news on that other wrestling game that was supposedly in development?

As odd as this may sound my purchase of this brand new is all done to the Showcase Mode having checkpoints. I am sick to death of the cheap AI in this mode. It just flat out cheats and makes you have to play as cheaply as possible to get through the matches. Some of these matches are freaking long and when you lose because of the bullcrap AI it makes it about as much fun as toothache.
I have been collecting WWF/E video games since 1990 and I think I am just at the point where I am done. The games just are not fun any more. It was so much better when each console got their own WWE game.

i just want GM mode back...or draft in universe to start and shakeup after mania if its too difficult adding the old school rating system/fan system/ect that they did 10 years ago in a game.

wwe.2k.com/news/2k20-universe-mode/Some well-needed tweaks to improve Universe mode. Highlights for me being: - Major and minor show match limits have increased from 7 to 9. - Pay-Per-View match limits have doubled from 7 to 14. - The number of championship titles per major show has increased from 6 to 7. - Simultaneous rivalries on major shows have increased from 3 to 4. - Pay-Per-Views can be co-hosted by up to 3 major shows versus the previous 2. I'm disappointed by the fact that we still don't have more multi-person rivalry options. How is triple threat or fatal four way rivalries still not an option?! But at least these little tweaks will make it easier to play Universe this year. I use three brands in my Universe mode, and so in 2K19 I had to have two PPVs per month because only 2 brands can be included on a PPV. So its nice to be able to have three. And the match and rivalry limits being increased really helps. 50 of the most-used cutscenes have been reshot with female mocap actors to look more authentic when female Superstars are used. That's pretty cool, though I admit none of the cutscenes really stuck out in my mind as not working with female superstars. But it's nice that they've reshot them to look more authentic. 25 new cutscenes have been added. Fantastic! Not a huge number, but the more the better. 3,040 new promo lines are in the game. Now that's a huge number! I can't really be optimistic until I read them. Promo lines were just horrible in 2K18 and 2K19. Hopefully in 2K20 they'll actually read like an actual wrestling promo. New rivalry content includes options such as low-intensity enemies making peace after a single Pay-Per-View or low to mid-intensity allies slowly falling out over several weeks instead of a sudden turn. That sounds pretty cool. I gotta say, the new menus look pretty nice. And it's nice to get a little look at some superstars who haven't been seen in any of the screenshots or entrance so far, like Ember, Kairi, Orton, Shinsuke, Apollo.

So basically, The only changes they've made to universe mode are: -Max matches on major shows have been increased from 7 to 9. -4 rivalries instead of 3 -Major shows can have 7 titles instead of just 6. -Max matches on a PPV have been increased from 7 to 14. -PPVs can be hosted by 3 shows instead of 2. -25 new cutscenes. -Can add or delete promos and matches. This is a TERRIBLE "update" omg. I can't believe everyone has that dumb default pose again. WHY. Honestly, for the first time since SD vs Raw 2009, I might not buy this game.

These new "updates" to online and Universe, eh. Only thing I like is the increase in matches, which would only benefit me for the last show of the year for whatever i have planned for Universe. Online i might use the lobbies if im bored and not wanting to use MyPlayer for RTG. I was superhyped when they announced the Fiend in the game, the 2K Originals looked actually like fun. I like a bit of everything in wrestling, video games, etc, so i like the seriousness of the game with a little of the sillyness. However, 2K has done a good job making me not hyped, but knowing me, im still gonna preorder the game. The games gotta go SvR 2008 bad to make me not want to buy it. I share a lot of your frustrations, cause I'm feeling it too. Why not no roster reveal? No DLC news? At this point of the game's release, we would have gotten at the least, the roster reveals beginning, then every week updates.
And yes, I would love GM Mode back but unfortunately no matter how many people want it, i dont see it coming back. Right now the only thing Im excited for in this game is 2K Originals

I really wanted them to focus on the rivalries (what kind of storyline, Triple Threat and Fatal 4 Way rivalries etc) but those Universe Updates are still actually nice updates.
14 Matches for a big Supercard show like Mania is a godsend. The animations being redone for the females is nice as some of them looked so bad with females. Custom Matches in the match table is great, more titles and shows that can host an event as well. I’m really glad we can delete promos now (don’t know why we couldn’t before but finally)
I don’t know what build this is, but if they decided on everyone by default having that pose.... that’s a bad design choice.

Good thing The Fiend will look good standing next to Zack Ryder for the matchup screens. *HUGE EYE ROLL*

That pose in the Universe screens is soooo bad. Everyone tilted the exact same way. Ugly sight. I wish we got unique poses back.

Some decent minor changes to the mode but nothing that really caught my eye.
I wish they got rid of the rivalry system and let feuds/face/heel turns happen naturally like in WWE 12. That game had my favorite Universe Mode to date.

This blurb legit made me bust out in laughter:
"Main Event matches in Match Tables have been tweaked so that those match types are more likely to occur on the show (Example: Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View)."

Call me debbie downer. This game can do no right.
Universe is litetally no better. crap that should've been addressed by 2013 is only now getting addressed (i.e. Royal Rumble match at Royal Rumble ppv). Terrible update. I was going to buy this for Hogan, but the more I think about it, do I really need to pay 70 dollars to use Hogan in a video game? He's in some of the games that actually have GM Mode. Nobody cares if I don't buy it just like I don't care if idiots say 'yes you will!' The bottom line is that from the lack of information flow to the weak 'improvements' this has been a pathetic attempt. I'm annoyed enough at the developers that I REALLY want them to lose the license. Me not buying it won't make much difference, but at least I'll know that I'm not supporting these smug jackoffs who haven't really made an effort in at least two years

Absolutely nothing new, fantastic.
Universe mode updates sounds more like a patch than anything... I doubt increasing match/title limits took much effort at all.

I honestly wasn't expecting them to make any major updates to Universe this year considering the updates had been fairly minor until last year anyway. The increased title slots, rivalries, show hosts and PPV match limit are a nice addition that I'm looking forward to utilizing. I know the majority would like more from these games, but I still find enjoyment in playing Universe throughout the year so I'm sure 2K20 will be no different in terms of enjoyment for me. Then again I primarily play these games for the wrestling show simulation aspects. I really don't think anything groundbreaking will take place until they move to next gen consoles.
Somewhat of a side note but I also have a feeling that 2K20 is going to be outdated very quickly with the current rebranding of Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. I'm thinking that's why the marketing hasn't been overly revealing this year.

I WANT to buy this game but the more news coming out seems like It'll be a waste of money. You'd think that 2k20 would be a milestone year for the series, but alas, no such luck. And can we talk about how The Hardyz have been back for a while and we STILL haven't gotten attitude era versions of them in the game? That's a HUGE miss in my opinion.
