Well, we've talked about the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era. Let's talk the PG years. Since PG is just ratting, I guess we can also call it the Universe Years. Even though we now have title. So, I mean wtf are we gonna call it now. The Early 2010's Era or Prime Cena years.
Personally I consider 2008 the transition year.
I typically divide it into two bits
2009-2011 - The Prime PG Years, the most strict enforcement of the PG Era. Minus that one Saturday morning show in 2012. Featuring Cena/Orton's rivalry part 2. DX reformation, HBK retires, Edge's face turn, Cm Punk and Hardy program, Jericho/Edge program, The Nexus, Edge ''killing'' Paul Bearer, Daniel Bryan/Miz, Taker going into semi retirement and much more.
Cm Punk's shoot - WrestleMania XXX - The Reality Era's content starts it's prelude. With more heated promos from Punk and the fans starting to gain voice in the product some what. Cena/Punk's rivalry, The Authority, Orton/Christian, Hall of Pain, Sheamus as the guy running SmackDown for minute, The Shield, Batista Royal Rumble, Bryan's big moment, Bryan's 18 seconds, Punk's title reign, The Rock's return run, Return of Lesnar, The years we thought were Taker's last, Failed Ziggler push, Alberto Delrio being upper level heel, end of the brands, Title unification, Cena/Orton Part 3
I would the years as following
2011 - Very exciting years as a fan. I overall really enjoyed this year. The Hall of Pain, by Henry was very fun and Henry deserved this final run at the top. Punk's shoot and the Summer of Punk. Delrio's cash in was ill placed and some stuff i'd change. But we got Punk's big at Survivor Series. Zack Ryder's big rise in US title division. The Tag Division was forsure garbage here and Air Boom was the only time I'd back up. Ugly Cody Rhodes, Orton and Christian's feud. 2011 had some really cool stuff in it, and it was the best of the PG Era. Summer of Punk really got a lot of my investment.
The first part to 2014 - Bryan's fight for the title, and all that. I really won't get into this one much. But a lot of the same reasoning to 2011.
2013 - I always thought could of been one of the greatest years in wrestling. The roster was on point with lots of great talents. But, I think this year just made far to many mistakes. I always liked the Twice in Lifetime story. But, Punk should of either dropped the title at Elimination Chamber 2014 or go into Mania making it Triple Threat or something. Punk's return in mid 2013 was lack luster, I did really enjoy the Authority at times. Minus the 20 minute promos. Corporate Kane was one of my favorite characters of all time. I found it hilarious. But, Swagger/Delrio thing was big bleh. Crazy how that angle would not go over at all in today's world. And Ziggler's failed push. Bryan/Cena and Bryan's first rise for the title was cool. And it did end out well at Mania even if it was mistake on events. End of brands entirely and RIP to the World Title. That already had been ruined and discredited as title when it opened WrestleMania 27 and stopped main evening paperviews in 2010.
2009 - Poor Mania in this year. But, Edge/Hardy RR program was fun. We got Shawn and Taker at Mania. Lots of great PPV matches, Punk/Hardy. Horrible content on Raw and it's programming and some horrible angles. But, we got some iconic and amazing paperview matches and few gems of storylines.
2010 - Another year that could of been fantastic with Hart/McMahon, Nexus, etc. But it all fell flat on it's face.
2012 - My least favorite year in Wrestling at the time. Garbage. Johnny Ace was fun and the build up to Mania was fine. Everything after that was garbage. Minus Punk's title reign, Cena's decline angle, and the Shield.
