I just seen a post on my Facebook about Vince controlling NXT once it goes to the USA Network this Fall. I feel bad for NXT fans if that's the case. There is no way it's gonna be ran the same way it's being ran now. Vince will kill that brand, or at least change it to make the casual WWE fan enjoy it.
This is what was said....
"And for those wondering, Vince McMahon is expected to be directly involved with NXT once it moves to USA Network. There has also already been talk about bringing main roster talent to the NXT brand to provide more “star power” and increase ratings. That obviously has a lot of people rolling their eyes."

NXT being on the WWE Network isn't a big deal for Vince. There are no ratings to worry about. But NXT being on USA Network?? You can bet that he will have a huge say in what is on there. Remember what he did with WWECW back in 2006, for it wasn't pretty.

You can bet that he will have a huge say in what is on there. Remember what he did with WWECW back in 2006, for it wasn't pretty. Vince isnt as "out of touch" as people like to think he is. WWE is branded towards a crowd thats completely different the what AEW is branded towards. Thats why he has no intention in making drastic changes to RAW or SD. On top of that, AEW isnt going to get ratings close to RAW/SDL. They're putting NXT head to head with AEW to actually pull the AEW crowd away from that show. Putting Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins on there isnt going to do that. He may be at the shows & may sit in gorilla but Im willing to bet he wont be nearly has hands on as people think he will be. Im willing to bet we see more NXT stars show up on RAW/SDL to get exposure then vise versa |

Regardless of Vince, any move to live TV is a killer for NXT. Part of the brand's charm was that it was developmental - there was a mix of indie stars learning to work tv and the "WWE style" and other talent who had the freedom to work on and try out gimmicks. If you go live with green talent the product will suffer, and there won't be the same freedom to work through struggles - it's sink or swim just like the rest of the main roster.
I think you could make an argument that a televised, Vince-involved product would have resulted in very different career trajectories for people like Alexa Bliss, Tye Dillinger, Becky, and others who struggled to find their character in a low-risk environment. Maybe they start using somewhere like Evolve as a place to develop green talent and get them some Network exposure. But I just think WWE is past the saturation point of having too many televised hours per week. Pump out too much product and too much similar product and people are likely to tune all of it out because it becomes white noise.
If push comes to shove, I'll watch AEW live and catch NXT when there's something noteworthy. Part of NXT's charm was that it was a short watch and easy to access each week.

If NXT becomes a real third brand with pressure to deliver ratings, it’s a whole different ballgame than what it’s been for the last six years or so. And as you say, it then just becomes more of the WWE white noise. It will, at least for a while, be interesting to see it happen though. That's gonna be, uh... you know, a... fascinating transition. I always liked NXT on the network because it's a bigger achievement for the wrestlers once they move to the main roster because they're moving to a TV channel as well.

I think they need to call quits on having people go "up" to raw and smackdown the main roster is packed enough and people aren't getting TV time. Even without Shane McMahon storylines there wouldnt be enougn time for everyone. |
