So I rewatched the RR ‘92 match yesterday (for God knows how many times now) and then for the first time it dawned on me about something Heenan said when the Barbarian entered the ring. He said something along the lines of “he’s a tough guy not a part time hair dresser on the weekends” now like I said I watched this match numerous times now and that was the first time I ever connected the dots so to speak. Was that an inside dig at Santana who owns a hair salon in Roxbury (?) NJ? Back in ‘97 or ‘98 while working for UPS I delivered to it and met him one time. So did he have the salon in ‘92. Just something I found funny.

It may well be. I always wondered if it was a dig at Beefcake’s gimmick.
I’m the same as you though, have watched the event countless times. If Heenan guy picks that for the discussion thread I’ll be staying up late that night!!

I honestly doubt it. Heenan just had many one line zingers that were random at times, but somehow were entertaining. Kind of like Piper on commentary.
But who knows! That's what made Bobby so great.

It was probably just a random comment. Sometimes his stuff was out of left field. Also, sadly Barbarian hadn't been doing much for almost a year so it's not like Bobby had much material kayfabe wise to go on to put Barbarian over. By the Rumble he was just a guy used to make up for the numbers.
I'm not sure how long Tito's owned the salon but I don't see Bobby taking a jab at someone like Tito's personal life. Tito is a universally liked guy by his peers.

Yeah I always looked at it as classic quick wit by Bobby as usual. nibs92 You can bet Rumble 92 will be watched in that thread before the years out!

The only people missing from that event was Bret Hart, and on a lesser level, Brian Knobbs and Marty Jannetty. But for that time frame, all the big stars in pro wrestling (except any WCW talent) was on that Royal Rumble PPV card. Amazing show!

Brother, I watched that PPV event more times than I can shake a stick at. (What does that saying even mean??) But I don't have to watch it to join in that night. I could probably tell you everything that's happening just on memory alone! Ha ha ha

I would believe so.
I had a similar moment when watching WCW recently. Someone mentioned a wrestler having trained in the smokey mountains. Schiavone said "no one wrestles in the smokey mountains!" Assumed it was a dig at Cornette.
Another I connected the dots on. Vince thought Daniel Bryan was a nerd so he booked both Bellas being after him. I figure Vince thought this was comedy gold. Later I learned that Jim Ross had to convince Vince to sign Gail Kim as Vince was unaware there would be people who would find "Asians" attractive. The Bryan and Bellas story ended with the Bellas catching Bryan with Gail Kim. I assume Vince thought it was not only hilarious that the Bellas would fight over this nerd, but also thought it was double hilarious that the nerd turned the Bellas down for an Asian woman. I doubt I'm far off here.
