I enjoyed the brief run he had in 92. His memorable debut in August that year attacking Sting was so well done. I remember thinking how odd it was to see him tagging up with Rick Rude on Clash XX considering their past history in the WWF.
The Havoc build to him and Sting while cheesy was still entertaining as Evil Jake was just plain awesome. The match itself? Not so much. I also liked his one time appearance in the booth with JR on Saturday Night right before he left.
His issues with Bill Watts led to his departure but man can you imagine if he had a longer run? A feud with a babyface Cactus Jack in 93 would've been stellar. Just imagine the promos.

agreed with all that. loved the build up of the match, but the match itself was only ok. and him tagging with rude was odd feeling.
wish he woulda stayed with wcw or was able to go right back to wwf but i know he burned that bridge until McMahon needed some more names later on.

For me it was so weird seeing Jake & Rude in WCW....would have been great had he stayed.

It sucks he got paid less than he was promised, but besides that him coming in actually bumped up the PPV numbers just a bit especially since that year was absolutely terrible for WCW. Roberts could've done some great things, and if there wasn't a problem with Watts, who knows maybe he would have continued on and we'd get some classic feuds going.
I could see Roberts feuding with Sid, Muta, Windham, Cactus Jack, Simmons etc. Even challenging Simmons to a title match down the road.
Maybe I should do this in my next part of my anthologies in Wrestling Sims.

Jake to me was always a WWE guy. So it looked so weird to see him competing in a WCW ring - even though his history traces back to Georgia Championship Wrestling - which is WCW!
It is interesting to think where Jake would have gone after Halloween Havoc. But we did get that nifty run in Smoky Mountain Wrestling in 1994 out of Jake, so that's something!

Jake vs Windham/Muta… Yes please!
Strange that you said that, because when I thought of late 92/early 93 the two names that came to my mind were Windham and Muta for a Jake feud.

I remember it was my first experience with the concept of a talent "jumping ship". After WM 8, I thought it was strange that Roberts just vanished off WWF TV.
Then, one Saturday morning, I'm flipping the channels, and happen upon a WCW syndicated show that recapped how Jake came out of the crowd the previous week to attack Sting. That was followed by a Bill Watts statement on the matter.
Mind was blown.

I remember it was my first experience with the concept of a talent "jumping ship". Same thing for me. WCW got a few guys around that time period like Greg Valentine (slightly earlier), Barbarian and Hercules though none lasted too long. WCW was a strange time period then. Most guys seemed to come and go or if they were under contract they weren't used too often. It seems like it wasn't until 1994-1995 and on that most guys were tied into longer term contracts. I'm guessing Bischoff combined with someone else's money.

What was the underlying beef between Roberts and Watts exactly? Was it something linked to Grizzly or did Jake no show an appearance or something?

What was the underlying beef between Roberts and Watts exactly? Was it something linked to Grizzly or did Jake no show an appearance or something? It was a money issue. Jake thought he was getting a big deal when he signed with WCW but in the end he got peanuts( his own words) thanks to Watts. Watts also was out to kill his character according to Jake so that was another factor.
