I am a very very casual viewer of the current product, I typically only watch the occasional PPV.
I know Axel is the son of Curt Hennig, and he is fantastic in the ring. Drums decent on the mic, but has a bland look.
Why is this guy not repackaged? Give him a mouth piece and total revamp. Make him a super cocky/evil heel. This guy should be vying for the title

They did that in 2013 and gave him Heyman, it didn’t work and sadly Curtis Axel will never be as good as his dad...

Didn't work in 2014 or whenever, won't work now.

Rooted for Axel to succeed for a long time but as of now just doesn't seem to have 'It.' He's the kinda guy I'm expecting to just completely repackage himself and his career to skyrocket but just never comes. Destined to be meh if not

I think Axel is great with Bo Dallas as kind of a comedy act. They’re both solid in the ring and seem to shine bright when they’re funny and goofy.

Maybe one day he is gonna find success somewhere else but as of right now he seems fine as the kind of guy they can use when needed, much like Hawkins, Ryder and Bo.

He could’ve been a really solid IC champion and mid-carder. They had him be a Heyman guy for like 2 months before Heyman went back to Lesnar or whatever.

He's probably one of the most unforgettable Intercontinental Champions of all time.
To be fair though, the WWE writing team and Vince is just as fickle minded as the fans are at times.
If Vince kept Heyman with Axel, and had him getting wins, had a solid IC Title reign, then he would have been a solid mid-card to title contender star.

He's fine. He's still not eliminated and Axelmania will never die!

Axel is a lot like Epico & Primo. Very talented, but no matter what you do, fans just don't seem to care. You could repackage them over and over again and the majority are just meh.
I think the best thing for his career would be to go to NXT. Let him become a bit more serious and showcase what he can do in the ring. If it works and fans gravitate to it... awesome. If not... least ya know you tried.

He’s a good hand, decent enhancement talent, but nothing more.

I've heard people talk about how underrated he is in the ring, and I remember The Rock tweeted a picture training with Axel for one of his Mania matches saying how Axel was one of the best, but I've never seen that for myself. Maybe he has talent and WWE hasn't given him a showcase for it, but I don't see a top level in ring worker. It doesn't help that most of the gimmicks he's been given have gotten really annoying, really fast.

Sometimes it feels like Vince keeps him around kinda like a final FU to Mr. Perfect. Curt had a great run at the beginning in WWF but after injuries and leaving to jump to WCW and whatnot and holding out for money and not to mention the airplane fiasco, I wouldn't put it past Vince to hire Joe on and promise the world to only cut him down as a rib.

He should've wore a singlet and been The Perfect Son. That would've been a great gimmick for him.

I think he'd work well as part of an evil tough guy faction with McIntyre.

He didnt even train or plan to be a wrestler till nearly 5 years after Curt had died. On top of that, Curt & Vince/WWE never had bad blood between the two. Not everything is a conspiracy.
