So I was reading somewhere Edge was suppose to win the World Title at Taboo Tuesday 2004. I find this very interesting with Batista starting to get over with the fans. It seemed WWE still wanted to try to have Orton get his revenge on HHH at WrestleMania 21. Any thoughts on how long this reign would of lasted or played out.

I never heard that one!
I remember hearing the plan was to build Randy Orton back up so he could take the World Title off Triple H at Mania that year, but that bombed horribly, so they had him face Hunter at the Rumble and lose.
I don't think Edge was ready yet in late 2004 to be WWE Champion. The MITB thing worked perfectly for him anyhow in how he did finally win the WWE Title in January of 2006.

Yeah I didn't hear till yesterday! Edge said in some shoot interview, I find it crazy. Picturing Edge as World Champion going into the 2004 Survivor Series.

It is possible that was the plan back in early 2004 to have that happen.
I remember Edge was super over, and when he won the IC Title off Orton, it seemed the fans started to get tired of Edge. Then he got injured, and stripped of the IC Title, and came back and fans were not happy it seemed. He did win that Tag Title with Benoit at Taboo Tuesday though.
But maybe if he was still popular then it would have happened, but Vince decided to change things??

I never heard this and I think it'd have been a mistake. Prior to this when on SmackDown Edge was pretty over as a white meat babyface. After his injury and return to Raw he had cooled off considerably. I remember him being boo'd against Orton for the Intercontinental title. After that at SummerSlam when still playing a babyface defending the Intercontinental title in a 3-way against Batista and Jericho, he was boo'd again, in Toronto. I even remember watching his return after WrestleMania XX and being shocked at how quiet the Raw crowd was over him spearing top heel Bischoff.
Had Edge somehow won the belt in 2004 it'd be a very short reign before losing it to Triple H.

We had a discussion about Edge and championships before. Not 2004 but championship reigns in general. I think Nivro™ can confirm that. Anyway I feel the same way about Edge and the world championship that I did then. I feel while Edge was a solid performer and would have eventually become a world champion more than half of his title reigns were a result of too many titles and not enough top level talent. Meaning if they only had one main event, one mid card and one set of tag team champions he wouldn’t have had more than half of those 11 championship reigns. I feel doubling the amount of championships dilutes the top talent.

I find this much more different and worth discussion. Because of this being before the Rated R persona and what was at hand going into WrestleMania 21. I can agree, but I think that can be said for anyone in the era. Orton, Cena, Edge, Batista would of went down a couple of pegs in reigns.

I mean we could get fun matches against Beniot, Michaels, Orton. But, it just would feel weird. Edge I guess could of won it, and been you know really happy go lucky and face with it. Prolonging the origins of his heel turn. And have him not have fun support and be disrespected by the fans and be viewed not as championship material and build on to lack of reaction. And have it be rematch against Triple H at Survivor Series 2004 and Triple H go over. And then spark off the heel turn into the Money in The Bank next year. That's the only scenario that would sound plausible.

I wasn’t saying it wasn’t worth discussing again i was just saying what my thoughts were on Edge as a world Champion in general...so a 2004 reign l personally think wouldn’t have been very memorable or significant.

Never heard that.
I’ve heard from a few sources that the plan was the build Orton up to eventually win the world title at WM21 and that HHH would obviously hold it until then.
It seemed like they were trying to build Edge to be the one to take down Evolution in the spring of ‘04, but he was getting booed by fans in the summer and seemed to be stuck in limbo until fully turning heel in the fall. I think Edge getting booed as a face in his home town at SummerSlam killed any chance of him getting a world title run around that time.
