In an interview with Newsweek, Triple H confirmed that 205 Live brand and the cruiserweight wrestlers will move over to NXT brand. There has long been a rumor that WWE plans to cancel 205 Live before the year is over. Triple H on 205 Live moving towards NXT: “You’ll start to see 205 begin to. I think it always existed as an island onto itself, a little bit, and it’s become lost in this limbo. You’ll begin to see it move more towards the NXT banner and the talent there. We have a lot of talent. For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful. It creates more opportunities for more people. As for RAW and SmackDown, it’s an open division for them. Whilst I did enjoy 205 Live whenever I bothered to watch it, it should never of been its own show. A division having its own show is destined to fail, they’d fit in well with NXT though, I’m sure most of the 205 Live talent probably wrestled in NXT at one point or another. We’ve recently seen 205 Live alumni like Ali, Buddy Murphy, Cedric Alexander etc absolutely KILL IT on the main roster against people bigger than them too.

I personally always thought it was silly to have a whole brand dedicated to a specific weight class. Never understood why cruiserweights warranted their own show, when they could easily be spread throughout RAW/SD/NXT. Especially given that hardly any of them have shown any discernible characteristics. Once you watched one cruiserweight, you'd watched them all. They're all very talented in-ring performers, but they all wrestle the exact same style, leaving very little room for variation.

Seemed inevitable that a standalone 205Live product was gonna be axed. NXT is the best place for the roster. Get the talent some extra exposure now that the brand is televised on cable.

Im sure before 205 even started, Vince was against the idea of the cruiserweights having their own show and as usual he was correct. So many people think Vince is out of touch, ive never believed that, he knows this business inside out and I always get a smile when he proves people wrong. I always watched it every week and enjoyed it more often than not but alot of the time there was hardly anyone in the crowd. It can only be a good thing merging 205 with NXT.

This is EXACTLY the scenario I was hoping for. 205 has great talent that so few get to see. NXT needs some fresh talent to spice things up. This is a win/win in my book.
Gulak vs Dunne
Gargano vs Gallagher
Ciampa vs Kendrick
just a few matches I'd love to see.

For the last couple of months or so he was just pretty much Akira's buddy. |

Should have been done a lot time ago. The Cruiserweight Title is irrelevant when you have cruiserweights winning the World/Universal Title. On top of that, spot wrestling is for a more "marky" crowd which is exactly what Full Sail is.

Seemed like even less people cared about it when Cedric, Ali & Murphy left.

There is also reports that both Toni Storm & Pete Dunne are moving to regular NXT full time. We've seen Dunne there lately, and that would explain why Storm lost her title at the UK Takeover.

It's for the best.
The extra hour of NXT is going to be filled with lots of talented CWs and others who don't get to be on episodes that often due to the previous 1 hour time limit.

I had a feeling this was going to happen, and I’m all for it!
Hopefully they will take this as an opportunity to change the color of the cruiserweight title, I don’t think the purple belt will go with the atmosphere of NXT. Make it a black strap with gold, or redesign the whole title and rename it the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

makes sense at this point. there was no reason for 205 to exist especially with NXT getting 2 hours of TV time.
