I can't stress enough how wrestling back then was better than today and promos were a big reason why.

Please let’s not compare how promos and or wrestling was better than today’s wrestling because this is the classic board so on here modern wrestling doesn’t exist. And if it goes off topic and people starts comparing I will either move it to the main wwe board or just lock it.

I've always said as bad as the FPOD was? They could have saved EVERYTHING by having Goldberg & all the wronged parties wipe the nWo out.
Konnan should have first feuded with Luger...the other member of the Wolfpac that betrayed him. Goldberg should have been fed Hall...then Nash....then Hogan. Instead of Goldberg getting his revenge we got something super fresh....Hogan vs Flair. Jesus wept.
Then Hogan turns face and the whole thing is forgotten about less than 3 months later. Awwww man....total nonsense.
But getting back to Konnan? this could have been the start of something for him(and many others) He could have went from defeating Luger to feuding with Steiner & Bagwell...
crazy the $$$$$ they flushed. Even with the HUGE error that was the FPOD? they still had the opportunity to right the wrongs.

I was never a Konnan fan but they should've did something with him post FPOD. He was over like rover during this time period so definitely a missed opportunity in that regard.

Even with the HUGE error that was the FPOD? they still had the opportunity to right the wrongs. The ratings for Nitro were actually up for the next month following the FPOD than they were the month before. Despite it being a stupid move, fans were still clearly interested in seeing Goldberg tear through the nWo. Sadly, like you said, WCW decided that Hogan/Flair for the title is what everyone wanted in 1999. Konnan should have been pulling an “Ambrose” role and simply attacking nWo members whenever he could and foiling their plans. Goldberg and DDP take on Hogan, Hall, and Steiner while Konnan targets Luger and Nash. Goldberg would eventually get his win against Nash back, but I think that Konnan and Nash should have feuded since Nash basically used him for a year. The fans were behind Konnan, and going after his former Wolfpac brothers would have firmly placed him as a legit upper midcarder going forward.

One Man Power Trip First you should really change your name to chirps because every time a rule is mentioned you start chirping about how dumb or unfair it is. No, not a power trip. There’s a main board to talk modern wrestling yet some of you keep wanting to find new ways to turn this into the modern board. And the only reason I can think of is because some of you think your more important than anyone else and the rules don’t apply. It’s a simple rule that’s been in place since day one of the Classic board. (not my rule) yet the same handful of people just can’t follow it. And I am tired so maybe they should just get rid of the Classic board all together as you all want to find new ways to talk about modern wrestling here.

We want to talk about classic wrestling, but there should be some allowance for grey area. Often when people bring up modern wrestling, it is to bash it compared to classic. I think that's acceptable as long as it doesn't descend into full blown threads about how mediocre all the present day WWE superstars (luchador sized wrestlers) are. I can't imagine anyone on the classic board wants to talk about the current day product favorably.
You just need to ease up. Let conversation flow until it shouldn't.
Does the main board allow forum members to talk about classic wrestling? If not, how can there ever be any crossover discussion???

Gorilla Yes you are allowed to compare old wrestlers to new on the main board so there is no reason to do it here, because it’s redundant. This board was designed to just be about Classic wrestling for those who don’t care for or didn’t want to talk about modern wrestling. And we already made an allowance with the Fantasy/what if thread. (Which still nobody uses after begging to have it) and the “5 year” rule. Yet that’s not enough. Where does it end? If you can cross over and talk and compare modern/classic on the main board and now you want to do it here on the Classic board then what’s the point of having a Classic board? You can do it all on the main board so than this board is useless. There’s no reason to bring up and bash modern wrestling here. We know it’s better. Again the whole reason for this sub board is to talk about Classic wrestling for those that don’t what to talk about modern wrestling. Why should those members have to deal with modern wrestling talk on a board designed to be dedicated to classic wrestling when there’s a main board for modern wrestling? That’s not fair to them. Look how far this thread has already derailed. The original post was fine until the last comment about today’s performers. Because then that turned the thread more into a modern post instead of about what WCW should have done with Konan’s story. The first reply was already derailing the topic of Konan story after that promo. So I just gave a friendly reminder to keep it about the thread topic and not turn it into a modern vs Classic thing. And now here we are talking about the Classic board rules instead of the topic.

Just to let you know I had no intention of changing this into something about modern wrestling. Recently someone brought up something about 2014 and I said that's not classic because to me it's not. Anything post MNW wars is not classic imo. Besides when the OP said this- "Performers today can learn a lot from watching this one promo IMO", I couldn't help myself.
Ok I will say something about Konnan since that is what this thread is about. By far his best time was being part of the NWO wolfpack. I mean his wcw run. Before that he was such a midcarder and after that he was a little more than that, but not by much. Filthy Animals thing was ok.

Since this has gone off the rails and will likely get locked, I just wanna say before hand that Konnan was a great ring worker but was a trash character and no amount of push was ever going to put him on a pedestal the likes of Hogan, Flair, Nash, Goldberg etc. He was always a "good hand" in WCW. Nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing more, nothing less. Agreed, and I never said he’d be a main eventer or top guy. I think he could have been a staple in their upper midcard with a proper feud with Nash and Luger. The fans were behind him and WCW had an opportunity to make him bigger than he was.
