Which anti-establishment shoot promo was better, Joey Styles’ in 2006 or CM Punk’s in 2011?

Joey Styles.
When CM Punk did his 'shoot' he was just whining that he wasn't in the main event or WWE Champion.
When Joey Styles did his 'shoot' everything he was saying was pretty dead honest - worked shoot or not.

CM Punk's pipebomb is the most overrated promo of all time.

Cant comment on the Punk one as I was long done watching the product but the Styles one was well done.I remember being glued to the TV when he did this.
Even though it was a worked shoot, it really felt real with Styles showing great emotion. This was also a good way to bring JR back to the booth which they did a week later which was for the better as Joey just never fit in with the WWE product.

Even though they both seem like current day product to me, I just watched both, the Punk one was better, much better. It sounded like he believed what he was saying. Joey Styles sounded like it was written by writers.

Joey Styles sounded like it was written by writers. I liked Punk’s better also, (mainly because I have forgotten Styles’s) but it was also written and or talked about with Vince prior to him cutting it. There’s no way they let him talk all the trash he was talking about Vince, Stephanie and Trips for as long as he did before cutting his mic if it wasn’t known what he was going to say. They knew what he was going to say and when they were going to cut the mic. Totally manufactured.

Joey's hit a few more solid points but it was really a way to get him onto the WWECW announce desk. Punk's was more an airing of individual grievances (and the shot at the fans takes me out of it, a clear way to try to keep him as the heel) but the chances of him actually leaving were still alive (believe I heard he agreed to a new contract the night of MITB, correct me if I'm wrong).
I'd personally go for Punk because my interest was really waning at the time and that moment kept me involved, even with the storyline going off the rails and almost all the momentum being taken out of it. I mean, it only took 24 hours to make Cena into a martyr, Trips a "man of the people", and Vince a sympathetic figure; John getting a title rematch against Rey who had already wrestled earlier in the night; and Punk returned WAY too early.

While I liked it at the time, all I remember now from Joey's promo was him saying "I'm not good enough to call Backlash?" but to this day I can recite Punk's entire promo damn near word for word. Shows you which one had more impact on me.

honestly Joey's was the superior one
Punk cut a promo that he wasn't the main eventer, wanted to take his ball and go home and the beautiful thing about hindsight; tried to pound-for-pound doing this same thing when leaving the WWE to pursue ventures outside of wrestling, only to be met with embarrassment and mockery for doing so

Thought both were great but preferred Punks....Still cant believe how badly they botched that entire storyline.

Imagine if Styles cut this shoot in Philly. He would've got the biggest pop of the night by far.

But Punk succeeded DESPITE that. In fact. If he came back tomorrow to either AEW or WWE, it would be possibly the biggest story of the year.

Punk’s. Heyman’s in 2001 was amazing too and isn’t talked about enough IMO.
(Excuse the old school fake pops they used to add lol)

In retrospect Punk doesn't really say much other than he's not happy working for a bunch of idiots who won't put him in the main event. Joey Styles takes on the industry and the changes Vince has made that he feels turned professional wrestling into a joke. The use of examples and lack of self promotion make Styles "shoot" the better one for me.
I do have to mention the irony of Joey's comments though since they are coming from a man who used to call matches with the bWo featuring the Blue Meanie, thinly disguised murder porn matches like the Funk vs Sabu barbwire match, a live strip show on stage to fill time during technical difficulties, and other such questionable if not atrocious programming decisions.
