I never understood this hold and for it to be used by the Fiend for his attacks diminishes the overall feel for the character. I mean you take for example what Brock Lesnar did to Rey tonight and you see what a imposing threat he brings with his appearance. In contrast the Fiend has this imposing presentation and follows through with shoving his hand in his targets mouth? How is anyone intimidated by this? Dude should use the neck snap he used on Baylor.

Well you are taking your middle and index finger going under the tongue and pressing down on the soft tissue with the thumb pressing on the outside putting a lot of pressure on soft tissue which can legitimately cause pain if applied the right way. You watch how Mick did it before Mr. Socko go added and it was a terrifying move. Plus as Foley said it’s a move you can do to anybody.

It's been booked to be a deabilitating nerve hold since like 1996, keep up.

The only major issue I can see with the move - because, as others have said, if someone started jamming their fingers into the soft tissue under my tongue while driving their thumb up through the outside it would be extremely painful and looks totally invasive and uncomfortable which I think is essential for the character - is that you could just bite his fingers and he'd have to stop. I used to like it when Undertaker smothered people with his big gloved hands (I believe Kane started doing that for a while when he initially returned with the mask(s) in 2011) because that would be completely terrifying, so it would be cool to see Bray do that as well.

That’s why Mick put that cover over his fingers. Biting isn’t going to do anything. Bray’s fingers are protected by the gloves.

The Mandible claw is more like a torture move which causes slow torment and pain.

I think it looks terrible. I believe he should change his whole move set as the fiend. It’s more like Bray Wyatt repackaged.

I think it's great. Hurts like a mofo if you do it to yourself.

I wish there was footage of Dr. Sam Shepherd doing it since that's where Foley got it from

I love the Fiend but there’s just a few concerns I have.
We still have 0 explanation as to why he goes from a “children’s TV host” to a crazed lunatic monster fiend, I mean I love watching the segments , it just doesn’t make sense if you were trying to explain the character to someone brand new to wrestling.
Then..that looped laughter blaring through the arena speakers after he attacks someone. Everything is so badass as far as preseantion up to that point , then the laughter makes it cheesy imo.
Otherwise I still think it’s pretty much the most badass character in wrestling today.

I will say that they should have taken pains to make them seem to be different characters. Sort of like what they were doing with corporate Kane. A sort of Jekyll and Hyde thing. We KNEW they were the same guy, but the actors couldn't confirm it. The canned laughter makes sense from the standpoint of him being a TV host, but the problem is that it's more annoying than creepy.

I think Bray needs a different finisher. Something more aggressive.

I remember when a body slam or suplex was a finisher.

It’s one of those moves that doesn’t look painful yet actually is, like Umaga’s thumb.
