I thought the arrival of this figure would be a great time to launch a new segment, featuring my collection. As KAM does time to time with the Comic board, I will feature one figure from my collection from time to time. Not daily, as I don't have the time, but I will review things ranging from SOTA, to McFarlane, to NECA, and whatever else may appear in my collection.
Figure of the Day: Volume I
SOTA Toys' [glow=red,4,500]STREET FIGHTER[/glow]Round 1: "Ryu"
SOTA Street Fighter Round 1: Ryu White Player 1 Regular
Price: 42.00$ delivered
Purchased From: board)
[glow=red,2,300]Ryu[/glow]
"You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!"
Size: Roughly 6" Tall
Accessories: Two alternate hands, An Alternate head, a punching bag
Packaging: Basic Clamshell
Paint Application: This is one of the earlier Street Fighter figures from SOTA. Coming from Series(Round) 1, you can tell that SOTA kind of put minimal effort into these looking at the packaging alone. While Ryu isn't a flawed figure necessarily, you can tell that the round 2 and 3 figures have cleaner paint applications, and the sculpts tend to be a bit better. Ryu is still a very good figure though, just not my favorite~ 9/10
Accessories: While I don't need oodles of accessories with these figures, I would have liked a blue fireball with Ryu. Ryu comes with an extra head(Screaming), and two extra hands that can be posed to making Ryu do a fireball. He also comes with a punching bag, but I would have preferred a fireball over it~ 7.5/10
Articulation: Ryu is as articulated as Ken, featuring the same basic sculpt, and the same 27 points of articulation. As you can see by the Van Damme split pic, he can pretty much be posed in a while lot of different ways.~ 10/10
Overall: I purchased Round 2 before this figure, and it is clear to me that SOTA has improved while creating these. Ryu isn't a poor figure, but he is definately not the best of the batch that I own. He will also cost you a pretty penny, as he goes for as high as 60-75$ on eBay. I was lucky enough to find a member on the Spawn forums who sold me one for 42 delivered~ 9/10
