I've just been watching some Smackdown matches from late 1999-early 2000 and after listening to the crowd and watching the reaction when the camera pans them, it just doesn't add up.
In today's wrestling I definitely always notice how the pops aren't as loud and sustained as they were in the Attitude Era and for years after, although they diwndled quickly. This could definitely be due to the popularity of the wrestlers themsevles and wrestling as a whole in the AE and just that era had more vocal fans. I do notice that on Raws from the AE. But the pops are way too loud and long for the reaction shots from the crowd.
The initial pop for when wrestlers come out is obvious, but the cheers seem to last too long. These reactions are not the same as the Network's for when they dub over a guy's theme and pipe in cheers, those are definitely too obviously fake. But they are somewhat similar in how long they last.
Any thoughts?

Yeah anytime they taped a show they usually piped in the reactions.
Cracked me up when they dubbed in boos for Hogan's elimination on TV after Rumble 92 when you watch the original airing and the fans are cheering his exit.
