Do you guys think it should've happened in 2005/2006? Felt like a missed opportunity to me.

wasn’t a required feud to me and I can’t see their styles feeding off each other that well, but maybe I’m wrong.

That is a pretty interesting proposition. I remember when Undertaker had a match with Ken Shamrock at a PPV and I know a lot of folks hated it, but I really liked it was a different side of Undertaker. I think him and Chris Benoit could have had a pretty interesting chemistry in the ring when I think about it.

Would've been a cool match to see
Should've happened at WrestleMania 22. Benoit drops the US Title to JBL at No Way Out, then enters feud with The Undertaker after his loss to Angle.
This gives us Benoit vs Undertaker, have them go back and forth, Benoit believably close to ending the streak but comes up just short, Benoit could've gone for the diving Headbutt, but Taker sits up at the last second before hitting the Tombstone. After the match, Benoit gets in Taker's face and demands to shake his hand.
Then have JBL vs Chavo for the US title, so that he gets the feel good moment with Rey in Eddie's honour.

Benoit is a guy I could have watched all day so I would have liked to have seen it.

I think Undertaker would have thought of the "vanilla midget" moniker and absolutely treat Benoit like crap in the ring. Plus Benoit was a "WCW" guy technically so I'm sure that loses points with the "so called" locker room leader.

Benoit is a guy I could have watched all day so I would have liked to have seen it. I remember Benoit saying in an interview in the UK that 'Taker was the last big feud left that he had to check off. If given 20-25 minutes, they would've put on bangers

Smackdown was hurting BADLY for starpower: Eddie passed in late '05, Batista was injured for half the year, JBL retired for a year and a half, Orton was suspended and went to Raw, Rey got injured, and Kurt walked out. I think taker and Benoit would've been more than capable of feuding for the World Heavyweight Championship for 4-5 months

It's a easy story to tell with the tenacious (undersized) Benoit chopping the very versatile Taker down to his size. Plus, Taker was great at submission wrestling- they would've had matches like Taker/Kurt at No Way Out '06

Would have been good stuff IMO.....I would have liked to have seen it. UT worked great with almost anyone let alone a great worker like Benoit.

Undertaker vs. Chris Benoit happened at Rebellion 2000 over in the UK. It was a really good match from what I can remember.
I wanna say Taker vs. Benoit happened in a fatal four way too at Unforgiven 2000 with Rock and Kane as well.

Benoit said that was the one huge feud he had left

wasn’t a required feud to me and I can’t see their styles feeding off each other that well, but maybe I’m wrong. Benoit and Bret always draw a lot of comparisons. Only bringing that up because Bret and Taker usually had some great encounters. Their styles were different, but that made for a good contrast with Taker being the unstoppable powerhouse and Bret using his technical ability to counter. 2005/2006 does seem like the best time for it to have happened as well since neither was involved in anything of significance and both were still on their A-game.

Canadian? yep. but that’s where it ends for me at least.

I just meant that they worked very similar styles being smaller guys who were known for their technical/submission wrestling. Taker had great matches with Bret so it's likely he could've had great matches with Benoit as well. Not sure what they would have done from a storyline perspective, however.

Bret Hart and Chris Benoit were believable in the ring. It's hard to watch WWE wrestlers like Seth Rollins today.
