Which one was your favorite?
I'm gonna be the lone soul and say Triple H vs. Taz in 2000, that was just awesome. Taz, WWF guy, beats Mike Awesome (who had just debuted on Nitro and attacked Kevin Nash), WCW guy and ECW Champ, for the ECW Title and then faces WWF Champ Triple H in 2000 on Smackdown. Fun stuff.

Oh man it's a toss up between 1997 and ONS 2005. My fandom for wwe has never been the same since the alliance 2001 and one of my biggest regrets in life was that I didn't stop watching after they bastardized ecw in 2006 until at least Bret Hart's comeback in 2010. I would have missed nothing if I stopped watching WWE between June 2006 and January 2010.

When Heyman said Oh you didn't think we came alone did you?" And the ret of the crew turned up in 2005? It was awesome.
2001 ECW Invasion died for me the moment they revealed the Billion $$ Boobjob as the owner and the one who was running the show. Dreadful....also at that point I hadn't even developed a real dislike for her onscreen persona. I thought she was fairly entertaining.

I voted 1997 just because it was the original ecw that was part of it. With One Night Stand 2005 I could have done without the wwe crusaders.

I break it down like this.
ECW invades WWF in 1997 It was cool, but not as Extreme as it would be later on. It seemed like a one off.
Triple H vs. Taz, WWF/ECW Champ, SD 2000 As much as I love Champion vs. Champion, I love Title vs. Title more. This felt like WWF World Champion vs. WWF European Champion, or WCW World Champion vs. WCW Television Champion.
ECW/WCW Alliance, 2001 (my pick) The greatest storyline in Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment history...on paper. This is my favorite idea of all time. As far as execution goes, well it's my favorite idea of all time.
One Night Stand 2005 This was very nostalgic for me, and I loved everything about this...show.
One Night Stand 2006 This was great, but just not as good as the previous year. It might have something to do with knowing it wasn't just a One Night Stand, but the start of a bad relationship.
ECW on Sci-Fi 2006-2010 The only thing I really loved about this was the Big Platinum Belt. It's my 3rd favorite design, with the Big Gold in second place, and the Undisputed as my favorite of all time.

I like to watch a lot of old wrestling, but I skip over most of 2001 without hesitation. It's been covered to death, but the Invasion angle was brutal and pissed away millions and millions of dollars. Not coincidentally, once they wrapped that crap up at Survivor Series, I thought the overall product quickly improved heading into 2002 which I think is one of the greatest years in the company's history. Back on topic, the 1997 ECW invasion was fun, but 2005 One Night Stand actually felt like ECW. What a tremendous PPV! The 2006 show was not as memorable, but lead to a full-blown ECW revival which started hot then quickly became the obligatory "C" show. That original ECW polish wore off real fast.

Imagine it's July 9, 2001. Without thinking about what actually happened, and just using your own imagination, what comes to mind when you hear WWF vs. WCW vs. ECW?? I think of great potential. Taking into consideration the question of this thread, I'm assuming it's only referring to the Invasion itself, and not the entire storyline. So, I have to go with the "biggest" event involving "ECW".

97. I'll never forget Sabu diving off the Raw set onto Taz and his crew.

one night stand 2005 has exceptional depth to it and was the last time that atmosphere was captured. easy vote.

I went with 1997, mainly because it really was a real invasion then. ECW was an active wrestling promotion, and we got to see ECW guys appear on Raw, and Jerry Lawler go to ECW and destroy Tommy Dreamer's nads with a singapore cane!

His 2nd heel turn made it even worse and the less said about the McMahon feud with the Invasion in the background the better.

The 05 ONS was a last good tribute to ECW. They should've left it at that.
