I usually if I have multiple figs of the same superstar. I'll simply I'm that their attires change for whatever storyline I'm doing. Example I have many undertakers from hall of champs,dm,ghosttaker, purple, and my recent long haired with coat. I'll just make an excuse why they change aittires.

When I was a kid playing with BCAs, Superstars Series 4 Steve Austin became my Bill Goldberg once better Austins came out. Before I got that bright idea, I'd used Dan Severn as Dan Severn but in a more Goldberg type role. Eventually, I put the two of them together in a stable led by the Ultimate Warrior, and I'd use washable markers to give Severn and "Goldberg" matching face paint.
I dunno if that counts but I wasn't a really creative kid so that's all I've got.

I can't remember if I've used a different figure as a makeshift for someone else I must have at some point, but I totally understand doing so if there's someone you really wanted. Did you have your Dan Severn plough through everyone then? That reminds me of when I was a kid, I had a Galoob WCW Lex Luger that me and my pal called Tex Luger as we had the Hasbro Narcissist too. They were a tag team, Tex and Lex, The Luger Brothers. (I have the Mattel Luger figures as The Narcissist, American Lex, Lex Luger is from the Sting facepaint three pack with a headswap from the Flashback basic.) I also had three Hasbro British Bulldogs for some reason and I called them Davey Boy Smith, Johnny Boy Smith and Dynamite Smith. I guess I'm good at padding out a roster and making the most of my figures!

I was too dumb as a kid to recognize different styles unless they were right in front of my face, but I always loved Severn's look 'cause he just had that appearance of somebody who ate people he didn't like for an afternoon snack. His figure being a new head slapped on a Sid body gave him a big look, so I just made him a complete powerhouse. I also used to use the Signature Series Goldust with the more intricate face paint and attire decor as a Kane-type monster character until Kane started getting figures, 'cause he had really good hands for chokeslams.

When I was younger, I remember making up a completely repackaged Trevor Murdoch for a singles run. He was a death match wrestler named “The Murdoch-er”, a play on the word “Murderer”. Him and Mankind used to kill each other in hardcore, ECW style matches. One time, they even had a match at Mania for the Hardcore Title (I think Mankind won, though I could be wrong.) I was a weird kid...
Also, I forget what I named them, but I distinctly remember pairing Heidenreich and Gene Snitsky together as a dominant heel tag team in my fed. They were unstoppable for a while, holding the tag team titles until Mania where they dropped them to the Hardy Boyz (obviously. I was (and still am) a Hardy mark!).

I remember when I didn’t have a RA Brock Lesnar figure, but I really wanted him in my fed, so I used a Mark Jindrak figure instead (forget which figure, but it was Jindrak in gold tights). I used him as Lesnar for a while until I got my actual Lesnar. I did the same thing with Christian, using an spare Edge RA figure to pair with another Edge to use as Edge and Christian.
