Why do you personally collect wrestling figures and what kind of collector are you? MOC, loose display, loose play? <----What made you decide what kind of collector are you

I don't know specifically why my mind works the way it does, but I've always enjoyed plastic representations of the things I enjoy. During my big comic phase in my 20s, it was the Marvel Legends line. When I was getting big back into Boston sports out of high school, I fell head first into McFarlane's Sportspicks. I've even got these little miniature Presidents from the 60s on my desk because I'm such a U.S. history nerd. Now I'm back into wrestling again, and my collection of guys that was just going to be "one or two" has predictably spiraled out of control. Some people are into framed photos or signatures. I like figures. I had a lot as a kid, and it's something I've just never grown out of.
Unless there are extenuating circumstances in play (like the absolute perfection of the SDCC Savage window box), I open all my figures for display.

I love toy collecting, loved G.I. Joe & wrestling growing up, so ARAH joes and LJNs were a big parts of my play days. I grew up and kinda missed the WWF Hasbro years and while I love wrestling to my core, I never ever could get into Jakks. I know bone crushers, TTLs, and RAs are all looked back on fondly, but to me they were so inaccurate, no scale, half paint, bodies looked nothing like the actual wrestlers. So I absolutely welcomed Mattel in 2010 with open arms. Finally I could get plastic representations of my childhood heroes. Yes they still have limitations, and fix-ups are required here and there by me, but it feels great to amass a museum of what I grew up with.
With that said, there are days when I think - damn how much money have I sunk into this to basically have mini statues just displayed in a case. Not sure what else interests me to sink money into though. I'm definitely a loose collector, so much more appreciation for the figure when you pose them in signature ways and take advantage of modern toy technology/articulation. Seriously I used to play with wrestling figures that were 5 lbs of solid rubber!
On another note, I was looking at (i think) Jazzware's Fortnite 6' line and the articulation blows me away - the wrists are on ball joints! OMG why can't G.I. Joe get to 6' scale!

Elite collector, Bay Bay!!
I collect for the love of my memories for wrestling. Since I still watch it it's great to be able to place Bret Hart next CM Punk or Velveteen Dream next to Shawn Micheals.
I grew tired of playing the video games, everytime they didnt announce a legend I wanted in the next installment (they also felt like the same game being released every year). At least with buying the figure I have my favorites and I get to keep them.

I mainly collect wrestling figures, from the 80s to the early 2000s (basically the WWF years). I am mostly a mint on card collector but I do have some loose. I do have the entire WWF hasbro set MOC and loose, with the exception of a few (not counting the rare figures like the R&B Valentine or the moon belly Kamala). I also collect star wars figures, comic book figures, MLB and NFL figures (mcfarlane and danbury mint). I look at these as works of art and I collect because I am a fan of the genre (wrestling, stars, sports, etc).

It's all I know. When I was 6 years old or so in the early 90s I got hand me down LJNs. Made my own figure fed. From there I moved onto the BCAs. Eventually I stopped playing with toys but still felt the need to own the wrestling ones. Still goes on to this day, and more furious than ever.
I think I'll move on to WWF Magazines I owned when I was a kid next.

I collect elites & display them loose. (Started back when the Legend series started) I have only a few MOC elites. Mainly flashbacks of my favorite wrestlers. It’s a great hobby. It’s always cool to add new figures to your collection.
As collector of other figures/things, I enjoy collecting wrestling figures more.

When I was a kid it was to play with, do my own fantasy booking and matches. As an adult collector I like the art of wrestling and with my collection mainly being legends, it's part nostalgia and part acknowledging the rich history of the sport.
Also doing figure photography is a great hobby

Its fun and something to do I guess. I only planned on buying a few of my favorites when I first started collecting Mattel and now I have hundreds and hundreds. I used to collect Jakks Bone Crunching back in the day and kind of wished I had collected the Classic Superstars Jakks line but felt like I was too far behind when I got the urge to collect again but when Mattel signed up I decided to start buying figures again. I keep my figures MOC and do buy some duplicates to open up. I will buy a figure loose if its too expensive to buy MOC.

I’m a big child/giant hoarder I guess.
Collected hasbros as a kid then bcas as a teen. Elites eventually dragged me back in. I also have tried collecting other things at times, the only other thing I ended up having a good collection of was jerseys and retro Jordan’s

Simply put, nostalgia. I started watching wrestling as a very young kid in the early 90's, where my Hasbros would wrestle against He-Man, TNMT, and Captain Planet figures. When the wrestling boom of the late 90's happened, my friends and I would spend all day playing with our Jakks BCA figures. I remember having matches that would go on for hours. These big, epic matches that felt just as big as Wrestlemania itself. I hit high school right as the Attitude Era died out, and pretty much quit wrestling (and figures) cold turkey for the next 15 years.
My collection is like my childhood on steroids. I'd daydream about what I hoped the next lineup would be, or that WCW and WWF figures would be in the same scale. Mattel has made almost all of those dreams a reality. Goldberg next to Austin? DDP and Wolfpac Sting in the same style as The Rock and Mankind? That 1-2-3 Kid figure I could never find. Made in the USA Lex Luger, Mabel, Chris Jericho, Bob Backlund and all the other figures that never got made before a line was cancelled. And new, better versions of favorites like Rocky Maivia or WM14 HBK.
There's just something about seeing the figures I had and the figures I wish I had as a as a kid all together that makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning again.

I always loved figures from when i started with DBZ figures back in 2001/2002. Mum let me pick out my first bunch of Wrestling figures for my Birthday in 2007, ever since then it's just grown and never stopped.
Used to buy figures of almost everyone, just to have at least one of them. Stopped collecting in 2012 because i grew out of playing with figures and became more interested in video games, but around October/November i got back into it with old Jakks & Irwin DBZ figures again, then by early 2013 WWE figures again.
Since then i mainly buy guys i like, all Elites of particular people like The Hardyz, and figures to fill out a certain collection (2006/2007 Era collection). Also had a brief moment where i bought a bunch of figures to make a Pic Fed roster. In addition to that, i try to get DBZ S.H Figuarts when they release characters i like, mainly characters from the original DBZ series.
There's just something about collecting figures, every time i get a new one it reminds of being a kid again, especially when opening it. The look of it in the box, the sounds when opening it even though the plastic can be annoying, the iconic brand new figure smell of course and just posing the figure around. Then there's customising to make the perfect version of the figure etc...
Don't think i'll ever stop collecting figures.

Nostalgia for me as well.I got back into collecting 3 years ago after seeing old LJN and Hasbro figs at a flea market.I figured since I have a spare room why not turn it into a retro wrestling room filled with figs, posters etc.
I only collect MOC old school figures circa 80s/90s as well that's the wrestling I grew up on lol. Doesn't matter if it's LJN,Habro,OSFTM, Toybiz,Jakks, Mattel etc.

I never stopped buying toys. I have always been buying toys and figures of some kind since the 80s and even though I bought a few wrestling figures here and there, I didnt consider myself a collector until Jakks RA1 John Cena got me hooked.
