2013 my son was 3. Wwe network had come out and wwe2k13 so me and him were watching or playing wrestling all the time. It was time to start getting out of babyish toys and I had a lot of action figures when I was a kid. So I got him as many flashback elites as I could for as long as he was into them and now that he’s not anymore, I just fill in gaps where certain characters are needed for completing my ideal roster.

Mine is my love of characters and character development. Its why I love wrestling, comics, video games, books, etc.
I collect wrestling because i've had a love for it since my grandpa sat me down to watch old local Houston wrestling when I was 5. I fell in love with the late 80's early 90's over-the-top characters. And never looked back.
I collect loose for display with a goal of one of every mattel wwe character made (though I have many various attires of some guys). I don't play with toys, but like to keep plastic pieces of art of my favorite characters in my display cases. They bring me joy looking at, posing, and answering questions of my house guests. Its a fun hobby, and as long as you budget, there are tons of worse hobbies to have.
I also collect Marvel legends x-men lineups, tmnt, horror, books comics, and games. I still have a ton of figures from my childhood including joes, original tmnt line, power rangers etc.

Great question. Growing up we did not have the action figures that we do today. Gi Joes, Mego, Big Jim etc ... but I would take rubber figures or army men and pretend they were different wrestlers. As most of my friends grew out of that stage I felt that there was something really wrong with me that I liked figures. I would even take comics and cut out my favorite heroes and play with it on a table because there was nothing. In Jr. High school I would ask my mom to buy things I would see so nobody thought I collected. As I got older there became more selections of figures like Star Wars, etc ... then LJN came out. I thought they looked ok but wasn't interested in the first line or two but then saw it had legs and liked what I saw that was coming out so I was hooked on them. I had all of them. Then Hasbro's line and galoob came out ... and I loved those sizes even more. Then Jakks came out and the realism was much greater so now I have to get all of them but still longed for some uniqueness and scale and then BINGO Mattel did it ... so I love these figs. But being an old timer I like the legends that I knew growing up and couldn't get before. I will get some new figures but don't need 100 roman reigns etc ... so I am more picky now ... with that said I have a massive collection of Marvel Legends - DC, Mcfarlane and other movie maniacs, monsters etc ... massive amount of Mcfarlane sports figures from all sports, star wars etc ... my 3 kids have all out grown me and I still have them on display in my office as I write this. I feel so lucky that I am not alone as an action figure fan and love POSITIVE friendly sites that helps collectors get what they are looking for - allow them to dream and root for each other. FUN!

This goes back to the end of my Jakks days, when an RA Finlay was the last figure I bought at that time. I was feeling pressure to give up the "childish" hobby, on top of feeling burnt out toward acting out matches with poor sculpts, horrendous scale, outdated attires (since I didn't update my collection back then, one look of one guy had to do), and not having certain main talents. To note, 2008 was around the time WWE was progressing into the PG Era and a downturn in quality, in my perception.
Fast forward about 4 years, and I started to feel the desire again to act out matches, angles, and spots I had spinning in my head. I tried the videogame route but was unsatisfied. And just using my used up, busted Jakks roster I wouldn't be able to recreate anything involving WWE's new stars. So my first Mattel purchases were a Punk-Cena BP (1st Punk and an updated Cena) and a Basic Mark Henry (1st Henry fig I owned). Been a Mattel Guy since. Within a year I also began my MOC collecting, E24 Mysterio and E25 Sammartino I bought when there was a sale at my Kmart *sheds tear in grief*.

Cue the Dr. Evil speech: "My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium..."
When I was in second grade, my parents divorced. My mother uprooted and brought me and my sister to live with my aunt, uncle, and their five boys. I was born in 1985, and four of them were spawned just a bit before, in the heart of wrestling's heyday.
I remember my uncle doing the Dusty strut and asking if I wanted to "meet Mr. Elbow." I remember Lincoln Logs, Weird Al Yankovic, Super Star Wars, Duck Hunt, Mario Bros., Hogan and Bundy LJNs, and my cousins sticking yellow-bordered WCW cards to their walls with their boogers. If we behaved all day, I could pick something from a "treasure box" my aunt stored in her closet. I almost always took one of those WCW cards, which I'm sure she got in bulk at the Christmas Tree Shop.
I remember all these things, but most of all, I remember being happy in an otherwise crapty situation. To this day, I cherish that period of my life.
After we moved out of their house, I collected wrestling and Star Wars figures. I never had a massive collection--but I always dreamed about it. Now that I'm older, and I have some expendable money, I'm able to make that come true. There're times I think it's incredibly irresponsible (I've got kids!). There are times I question what I'm doing. There are times it loses its fun.
But after I spend a few hours in my toy room, organizing my figures (loose only!), admiring a sculpt, finding a detail I'd previously missed, or recreating moments in history, I'm transported back to that very important time in my life. I love it.

I just love action figures and I love collecting specific lines. I had like 50 of the LJN rubber wrestlers as a kid. Used to have so much fun with those ... I regrettable sold them at a flea market, haha.
But I'm a huge Masters of the Universe fan and I had a ton of those too. In my 20's I collected the reboot of that. Now in my ahem, 40's I collect this amazing line.
And lastly, I love classic wrestling and Mattel makes an incredible product. Not perfect but yeah too sweet to ignore. And also, nostalgia, like a lot here have said.

Why? Don’t really know. They look cool and represent something I and others are very passionate about: wrestling. That’s probably the best answer I have. Action figures of any kind weren’t really something I cared a lot about as a kid though, or even once I became a wrestling fan in my teens. Was only a little over two years ago that I started collecting. I had a few from over the years because I just happened to really like some that I saw, but for whatever reason my friends and I all started going hardcore on them.
I collect Elites and funko MOC. I have a few loose basics and elites for various reasons, but any loose elite I have is a duplicate of an MOC.

I collect because I've been enjoying the hobby since 1984. Also, it keeps me from spending my money on booze, cigarettes, drugs, gambling and women.

I'm a collector that loves wrestling....simple as. I collect other lines too but I have always collected wrestlers. As a kid playing with Hasbro's was just unreal happy times for me. Collected Toybiz WCW & loved them...still some of my favourite stuff.
Loved Jakks CS line too...still do. was always a loose collector but I do have a small MOC collection of my favourite wrestler SCSA. BCA, TTL, FM, R3, RA, DA, Mattel basic, Mattel elite.
really looking forward to The Toys that made us episode about Wrestlers tomorrow. Itll be the first thing I watch in the morning!!

I collect because I like the women's division. I primarily collect women's figures with the exception of some select figures such as Kane and other Flashbacks

I've always been a figure collector. The earliest I can remember owning were Star Wars Han Solo and R2D2 in the 70's. Never really a wrestling figure collector, but I did have a few. Mainly started in the last few years because my wife is a huge fan. Now my kid has become a fan as well. http://instagr.am/p/B3iNqWClvms And since neither of them shop, I'm in charge of hunting for figures LOL.

It s a mix between and conscious (remember when and how i bought my old hasbro figures) and unconscious (have the same feelings as when i was a kid and find a new hasbro serie in a store)
