This incarnation of Sin Cara never did much for me. Solid talent, but IMO he was positioned exactly where he belonged.
The Ascension never overly impressed me either. Even during their NXT run, I always kinda of assumed they’d flop. They were funny though on the Fashion Files.
Harper is the one I am disappointed in seeing him released. He had all the tools. Plus I’ve been begging for him and Ohno to team up.

I would like to see Brodie Lee show up in the NWA. He would be a perfect fit for that place.

So essentially what they are saying is they wanted for AEW to shoot their wad after all the hype, realized they're barely competing with WWEs 3rd brand, realized getting rid of dead weight wasnt going to hurt them so now they're starting to clean house.

I can see Harper going to AEW and the Ascension going to TNA.
Sin Cara will probably go to Mexico and wrestle there.

I'm laughing at social media. Everyone saying these guys will be main stars. Eventually by their logic aew will have no lower card.

Ascension is worth signing for any major promotion but both Luke Harper & Sin Cara would be worth the pick up for AEW/IMPACT/ROH/NWA/MLW/NJPW...ect While they won't move the nailed much or be main eventers both are very solid in ring talent and would add depth to any companies mid car or tag team division.

I’m happy they got what they wanted, but sad that they were never booked properly. Especially Luke Harper.

Harper to AEW Ascension to AEW Sin Cara to Mexico I’ve always been a big fan of the undercard guys since the Attitude/Ruthless days and I think each of those guys could have been used on TV a lot more. Meh...the ascension straight up suck They were great in NXT tbh. Could have been Tag Champs on the main roster instead of being jobbers.

Put in a position to release Harper and keep Rowan. Boggles my mind. If it's any consolation, they're pretty much wasting Rowan as well. I don't get the Harper hype, myself.

Yet they were signing people to max deals to keep them from "jumping ship" before AEW's big launch and now that AEW has launched and lost half their viewers from their first few shows they are suddenly ready to start releasing people. I think its a safe bet using common sense.

I think Harper is going to have work anywhere he wants to go. He honestly seems like he would be a seamless fit just about everywhere at the moment. I’m glad to see he got his release.

Sadly Harper is another name in the long list of names that the WWE botched.
I’d love him in AEW but they have more than enough performers that they need to build up for the mass audience. I think he’d do great with a run in NJPW and then a return to the states in either NWA or AEW once he’s established his new character.

Harper captured my imagination in a way that most wrestlers don't. I'm a huge fan, and I always saw potential in him that many couldn't. At the risk of sounding like an old man (which I will be soon) Harper could've been a main event heel in the 80s and 90s. I could see him having fantastic matches with Bret Hart while being a decent threat for Hogan (especially if paired with someone like Jake Roberts) and carried Warrior to some respectable matches as well. Today I could even see him as a main event challenger. He had good matches with Orton, Roman, and Ziggler, and managed to get over on his own. His solo promos were spooky while being believable. Luke Harper was a guy you wouldn't want to run into in the woods. That said...
There was a glass ceiling in the WWE that he'd likely never have broken through, and it wouldn't have been because he wasn't good enough. I think one thing that hurt him was pairing him with Rowan (and later Strowman) who diminished his own impressive size. As a wrestler and a character he's head and shoulders ahead of both. But he was the Buddy Roberts of the Wyatts. Characterwise he was out-creepied by Bray Wyatt. Harper is a subtle creepy character whereas Wyatt is Bela Lugosi. In the larger than life world of the WWE, Harper was too small to be huge and more of a character than a caricature. Switching to the Dean Ambrose costume didn't help.
That said, he had a helluva career there. I think he can do more elsewhere, and I really hope he gets the opportunity.

Harper may be talented, but all I see is a mid card talent who has shown he can’t stay healthy. If I am a promoter that would make me very leary of signing him.
